As if we needed more proof lefties want to see every aspect of existence politicized (Trevor Noah with cancer and Amy Schumer with her pregnancy), Vermont-based ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s has now hopped on the #resist train.
The company has gotten very rich touting its hippie bonafides, throwing its weight behind progressive celebrities and political causes. But on Oct. 30th it revealed it would take a break from christening flavors after late night talk show hosts and would instead provide leftist demonstrators, divas, and donors alike a new flavor to cool their caustic tongues: It’s called “Pecan Resist.” Clever, right? The front of the new pint container features a cartoon of three angry women, the middle one of which is holding a “Resist” sign for all to see.
Not all in the Twittersphere were impressed with the pun or the carton art. Ben Shapiro snidely observed on Twitter: “I'm confused. Am I supposed to eat the ice cream or not?”

According to Ben & Jerry’s website, the amalgamation of “chocolate ice cream with white & dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts & fudge-covered almonds” will have its proceeds go toward “peacefully resist[ing] the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies ...” Specifically, Ben & Jerry’s will bestow Pecan Resist’s profits on four progressive organizations: Color of Change, Honor the Earth, Neta, and the Women’s March.
The selection of some of these beneficiaries doesn’t seem to be in completely good taste (heh). The Women’s March, which notably excluded pro-life women from its activities back in 2017, includes Linda Sarsour among its leadership, who has worked with anti-Israel organizations and is considered by many to be an anti-Semite.
Ben & Jerry’s would do well to manage its philanthropy with the same diligence it gives its ice cream.
