Whether it's the suddenly surging McCain-Palin ticket, or Joe Biden doing what he does best -- shooting from the hip when he should be tight-lipped! -- the Democrat vice presidential nominee made a statement on the stump today that will make conservatives giggle, liberals cringe, and media members pray nobody sees it (transcript after the jump):
Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be Vice President of the United States of America. Let’s get that straight. She’s a truly close personal friend; she is qualified to be President of the United States of America. She’s easily qualified to be Vice President of the United States of America and quite frankly it might have been a better pick than me, but she is first-rate.
You think this will make Democrats even more edgy about the way things are going?
Yes, that was a rhetorical question.
Of course, what makes this even more delicious is what Obama told CNN's Candy Crowley back in June:
Calling his choice of running mate "the most important decision that I will make before I am president," the senator from Illinois said he would "be deliberate and systematic about it, because this will be my final counselor when I am making decisions in the White House, and I want to make sure I get it
I get it's reassuring to the junior senator from Illinois that the person he picked doesn't agree with his decision.
Honestly, you can't make this stuff up.
