To watch CNN's Anderson Cooper’s interview with Stormy Daniels on CBS’s 60 Minutes, CNN reporter Randi Kaye convened a group of Trump-supporting women as they watched the interview on TV. All of the women did not believe Stormy Daniels when she said that she had a sexual encounter with President Trump in 2006. Cooper discussed Kaye's package with his political panel on Monday’s edition of Anderson Cooper 360 and they referred to the women as “hypocrites,” accusing them of living in a "beautiful bubble."
CNN political analyst Kirsten Powers wasted no time labeling the women as “hypocrites”: “I think what was interesting about listening to those women is of course we know what they would have said about Bill Clinton, and they’re hypocrites and all that.” If Powers had bothered to watch the segment, she would have realized that the women used the exact same arguments liberals used when defending President Clinton in the 1990s.
According to one of the women in the Kaye package: “Worst case scenario, if he slept with her, whatever. That’s between him, the Lord, and his family. That is not about the job he’s doing running our country, which he’s doing an amazing job.” Many liberals said the same thing about President Clinton when he faced far more serious and credible accusations of sexual misconduct, including rape.
The media would have a bit more credibility on calling other people hypocrites if they had covered the accusations against President Clinton with the same passion that they now cover the accusations against President Trump. While the three network evening newscasts devoted eight minutes and 13 seconds to Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal’s claim that she had an affair with President Trump, they devoted a whopping 16 seconds to Paula Jones’s claim that President Clinton had sexually harassed her.
While President Clinton had his entire party and nearly the entire “legacy media” defending him against the flood of sexual misconduct allegations, many Republicans who hated President Trump from the very beginning take quite a bit of joy in watching women come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against him.
Back on AC 360 Monday night, Never-Trumper Rick Wilson also weighed in on the Kaye package: “You know, you watch those women and you just want to say bless their hearts because they are, they are living in this beautiful bubble where Donald Trump is this wonderful family man who suddenly saw the light and became...a different character than he has been his entire adult life.”
While one woman did claim that President Trump “had to change as a person in order to become a President”, another one of the women interviewed by Kaye admitted that she knew that she “wasn’t voting for a choir boy.”
Wilson later reiterated his talking point that “Trump World lives in this very comfortable bubble” and “Donald Trump has been a skirt-chasing hound in his entire life.” Wilson also referred to him as a “long-term philanderer, adulterer, whatever phrase you want to use.”
Had the media not dismissed one of Bill Clinton’s accusers as a “sleazy woman with big hair coming out of the trailer parks”, the American people might take them more seriously as they sit on their high horse criticizing anyone who dares to defend President Trump. Unfortunately for the media, their statements dismissing President Clinton’s accusers will live on forever on tape and on the internet.

ANDERSON COOPER: New CNN polling out tonight shows almost two-thirds of Americans say they believe the women alleging affairs with Donald Trump before he became President. 21 percent say they believe the President’s denials of those affairs. Last night, CNN’s Randi Kaye spent the evening with a group of women, all Trump supporters, who watched my interview with Stormy Daniels.
UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN: She’s enjoying this way too much.
RANDI KAYE: On Palm Sunday, these conservative Christian women gathered in Dallas to watch Stormy Daniels’ interview on 60 Minutes.
GINA O’BRIANT, TRUMP SUPPORTER: She was shopping her story for money. Just like all of the other people that, who tried to make money off the Trump name.
RANDI KAYE: What was your first impression of Stormy Daniels?
LINDA CHURCHWELL, TRUMP SUPPORTERI feel sorry for her. My heart hurts for her.
SHERRY MASSEY, TRUMP SUPPORTER: This is a porn star. Why are we giving it any credibility? And the fact that she now wants to come out with a story because she’s afraid of her children? My goodness, what did you tell the kiddos about your full-time job?
KAYE: These women all voted for Donald Trump, and despite Stormy Daniels’ claims, they still don’t buy her story.
KAYE: Why would she come out and give this interview if she wasn’t telling the truth?
O’BRIANT: Money.

KAYE: Do any...based on this interview, do any of you believe that Stormy Daniels did have sex with Donald Trump?
O’BRIANT: I don’t believe it because I haven’t seen any hard proof. Do we believe the President of the United States or a stripper porn star? I go with the President of the United States.
KAYE: Most in this group believe God ordained Donald Trump to be President and stand by him despite his imperfections.
DR. LYNETTE BRYANT, TRUMP SUPPORTER: I know that when I voted for him, I wasn’t voting for a choir boy.
CHRISTINE HOUCHEN, TRUMP SUPPORTER: He had to change as a person in order to become a President. Stormy Daniels, if you...the lifestyle that she’s leading right now, I mean, I wish she would turn her life over the way that Trump has.
KAYE: This group suggests the women coming forward with tales of having had an affair with Trump are being targeted.
JILL NEWSOM, TRUMP SUPPORTER: Someone is looking and shopping for these people to come out of the woodwork because it is demeaning to our President.
KAYE: And as some strongly suggested, all part of a media plot to bring down Donald Trump.
BRYANT: You can throw all that stuff up in our faces as many times as you want but that means that we will work harder for Trump. Is that not so, ladies?
SYLVIA GUZMAN, TRUMP SUPPORTER: That’s correct. This is the media defining the narrative, the people, we the people are ready to define the narrative. And it’s not about tawdry sexual peccadillos.
BRYANT: In order for somebody to come forward, you could be pushed by somebody else. Right? And so I think the thing is is you’re looking for a way to impeach my President that I worked very hard for.
KAYE: I’m asking you about a Stormy Daniels interview on 60 Minutes. Period. That’s it. And about that so-called hush money, these women don’t see Trump’s fingerprints on it. Only his lawyer, Michael Cohen’s.
O’BRIANT: Maybe he thought he was just doing a favor to try to quash some negativity. Even though it didn’t even happen, just to get rid of the story that’s not even true.
GUZMAN: Which would also follow suit that that nondisclosure was unsigned because Trump may not have known about it at all.
LINDA CHURCHWELL, TRUMP SUPPORTER: Worst case scenario, if he slept with her, whatever. That’s between him, the Lord, and his family. That is not about the job he’s doing running our country, which he’s doing an amazing job.

COOPER: You saw Randi Kaye talking in the last block to, you know, Trump supporters, women, who basically categorically didn’t buy what Stormy Daniels was saying, didn’t think she was credible, and even if they think she did have sex with Donald Trump, it didn’t matter, he’s a different person. Politically, do you think any of this matters, any of this, Kirsten, do you think any of it has an impact?
KIRSTEN POWERS: No, I actually don’t. I think precisely because of what we just saw. I mean this is, either they’re going to decide that they don’t think that it happened as we saw what happened with the Access Hollywood tape, or they’re just going to just say they don’t care, that it doesn’t matter. That, you know, it’s between him and his wife. I think the people who support him are determined to just not see bad things about him. I think what was interesting about listening to those women is of course we know what they would have said about Bill Clinton, and they’re hypocrites and all that. But also they don’t seem to be familiar with Donald Trump because they’re so disgusted with, you know, oh, I’m so sure a porn star. It’s like, he hung out at the Playboy club all the time. I mean, this is kind of who Donald Trump is. And so if they’re so disapproving of that kind of behavior, then they’re actually disapproving of him. And I think that what I took away from the Stormy Daniels interview, which was very different, I think, from the other interview that you did, is that I think she was kind of a victim. He was a predator with her. She was a 27-year-old woman. He was telling her, “I’m going to give you a job,” and she said she didn’t even want to have sex with him and of course she didn’t,, she was 27 and he was 60 years old but she felt pressured to do it. I mean, this is the person that these women are defending.
