It seems as though some of the women on The View haven’t learned much. Co-host Sunny Hostin wandered into dangerous territory on Thursday as she lamented: “Why hasn't anybody taken [Trump] out back and kicked his little butt?”
An appalled Meghan McCain berated her fellow co-host: “He has Secret Service! He's the president of the United States. You want somebody to take him out back and beat the crap out of him?!? That's not reality!”
As a reminder, co-host Joy Behar in March finally apologized (after a campaign by the Media Research Center and the organization’s grassroots supporters) for accusing Christians like Mike Pence of having a “mental illness.” Perhaps Behar was thinking of her own experience as she tried to help out a colleague:
JOY BEHAR: She [Hostin] didn't mean it. Say it.
SUNNY HOSTIN: What?
BEHAR: Say, "I didn't mean it."
HOSTIN: I mean, I wish somebody would stand up to the President!
An exasperated Whoopi Goldberg informed Hostin of the stupidity of her comments: “Here's what's going to happen to your behind: The Secret Service is going to call you.” When Hostin didn’t take Goldberg’s advice on keeping quiet, the exaxperated Goldberg screamed that she was done with the segment: “We're trying to help you! Stop! Don't talk about it! Moving on! Moving on!”
The discussion grew out of Joe Biden and Trump trashing each other. Hostin, unsurprisingly, seemed to like Biden’s threat, finding it a “chivalrous” defense of women.
You would think that the women of The View might be a bit more careful with their language. Apparently not with Hostin.

11:02WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Former Vice President Joe Biden spoke at the University of Miami earlier this week and had some fighting words for the guy in the White House. Take a look.
JOE BIDEN: When a guy who ended up saying I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it,” and then said I made a mistake, they asked me if would like to debate this gentleman and I said no I said, “if we were in high school I'd take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.” I've been in a lot of locker rooms my whole life and I'm a pretty damn good athlete. Any guy who talked that way was usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room.
...
HOSTIN: I mean, that's the thing. Trump is such a bully. I almost — and I hate to say this. You know, why hasn't anybody taken him out back and kicked his little butt?
MCCAIN: But we shouldn’t be advocating for violence. We really shouldn’t be advocating for violence.
HOSTIN: It's true.
MCCAIN: When President Trump was saying this stuff— But when President Trump was saying all this stuff during the rallies, during the election, all you guys had a lot to say about the rhetoric and people getting kicked out. Let’s not have a double standard here. I don't like double standards.
HOSTIN: Stand up to him! Why doesn't anybody stand up to him?
MCCAIN: He has Secret Service! He's the president of the United States. You want somebody to take him out back and beat the crap out of him?!? That's not reality. Let's talk about the debt. I just — I can't with all this.
HOSTIN: I'm not advocating beating up the President but why doesn't anybody just stand up to him? Stop bullying!
GOLDBERG: You know, here's what's going to happen to your behind. Here’s what’s going to happen to your behind. The Secret Service is going to call you. Okay? Let's move on.
MCCAIN: Yeah.
BEHAR: She didn't mean it. Say it.
HOSTIN: What?
BEHAR: Say “I didn't mean it.”
HOSTIN: I mean, I wish somebody would stand up to the President!
HAINES: We do every day here!
GOLDBERG: We're trying to help you! Stop! Don't talk about it! Moving on, moving on!
