Jimmy Kimmel is “sensible and decent.” That’s the conclusion Michael Paterniti of GQ came to in an article following Kimmel as he made the decision to use his infant son as a political weapon on his show. Paterniti raved, “In doing so, he’s emerged as something like the most sane and rational voice in an increasingly insane and irrational America.”
Apparently displays of emotion on national television help the left recognize you as sane, as they wipe the crocodile tears off their own faces. Paterniti even criticized people who aren’t empathic enough to understand Kimmel’s position: “And the testy right, seeing how powerful he’s become in the debates over gun control and health care, would like America to see him as a lightweight liberal-elite crybaby.” Except that his understanding of policy is, well, lightweight. And he’s getting this fawning writeup GQ, the official glossy of the liberal elite. Oh, and he cried on TV.
Somehow, the irony escaped Paterniti as he shared a comment that Kimmel made to his wife (in a joking fashion): “‘When you come out, I want you dressed like a whore,’ says Jimmy, and Molly bursts out laughing.” But no, Kimmel is still “sensible and decent.”
And you can hardly expect the “testy right” to toast him, seeing as Kimmel blamed mass shootings on the GOP (“They should be praying for God to forgive them for letting the gun lobby run this country because it’s so crazy.”) and again, weaponized his son’s health issues to score points for Obama Care.
Kimmel is also upset about being labelled Hollywood elite, yet the article described some of the more lavish expenses of the Kimmel household:
“His Christmas list alone includes hundreds of people he buys for, doling out well over $100,000 on gifts and everything else. His Christmas Eve dinner file includes the menu, with little notes of castigation from each past year, next year get 30 pounds of crab legs…”
And don’t forget, he has more than one house: “Forget the two houses, at the beach, in the hills: That moment each night at the top of the show, that's where Jimmy Kimmel lives now.”
But he’s not elite at all. That’s just fake news, clearly. Plus, aren’t we forgetting the point of this piece? “No one's better at casually, almost dispassionately, disarming someone by simply pointing out their hypocrisy or letting them slide in their own bullshit. And no one's quite as fearless, either,” Paterniti wrote.
Remember the Man Show. Remember the genocide jokes. Stop gushing over a fallible celebrity.
