TBS’s People of Earth, a comedy that centers around a support group of people who have been abducted by aliens, hilariously took a shot at feminist, interpretative dance art on the Monday, August 28 episode, “Aftermath.”
Kelly Grady (Alice Wetterlund), one of the members of the group, invites her fellow abductees to see her dance performance, “Dwongarius,” which is an acronymn using the names of each of her past boyfriends.
Kelly is thrilled when it appears that her friends are moved to tears by her performance, but in reality, they're grieving the loss of fellow group member Ozzie, who was killed by an alien in last week's episode.
Dwight: "Kelly, it's Dwight. We need to talk. I don't think this is working out."
Man: "Uh, hey babe. Sorry I didn't, uh, call you this week. I uh, was really busy at work, and I didn't feel like it."
Man #2: "I'm just not looking for anything exclusive right now, but, you know"...
Margaret: I-I don't get the title. "Dwongarius?"
Yvonne: Yeah, I think it's the first letter of all her ex-boyfriends just, you know, mushed together.
Man #3: "I kind of feel like I need more space."
Man #4: "Uhh, I don't think I'm coming out tonight. I'm gonna stay home and play video games."
Chelsea: You know who would've made fun of this and hated it? Blonde Kelly.
Gina: Okay, you know what? Be nice.
Chelsea: You're enjoying this?
Gina: I find the piece challenging.
Man #5: "We're just hanging out. I don't think we should take this too seriously."
Gina: Oh, where were you? Kelly's gonna be so pissed. Did you bring flowers?
Man #6: We can still hang out, but as long as we get to see other people.
Man #7: "I know you told me never to call you again, but I think I left my vape pen at your house."
Kelly: I...only...need... ME!
Kelly: Hey, you guys. Thanks so much for coming. Wow. It means a lot to me that you...came. Wow. The piece really affected you. Well, now you know the power of dance.
Margaret: Honey, we're not crying because of you. We're crying because Ozzie's dead.
Kelly: What?
