Alison Lehrer, a spokeswoman for Paramount, the production company behind Al Gore's Oscar-winning 2006 film, told the Business & Media Institute April 22 that no movie sequel is in the works.
"There are no plans for a sequel," Lehrer said. "That is the official word."
"The Path to Survival," Gore's book sequel to "An Inconvenient Truth," was set to debut for Earth Day 2008, but now it's been pushed back, according to the publisher.
"This title has been moved until Spring of 2009," Blanca Oliviery, a senior publicist for Rodale Books, said in an e-mail. The book is already listed on Amazon.com.
Unlike Paramount, the publisher did not rule out the possibility it would find its way into the movie studios.
"As far as I know, nothing," Oliviery said. "But I wouldn't know such things this early. There might be things going on behind the scenes that I wouldn't be privy to. Doesn't mean there isn't one in talks. Once the book is underway, I might be able to have more info. But, it's too early to tell."
According to a statement released by the publisher in September 2007, the new book is "part scientific manual, part expose, part visionary call for a new planet-wide political movement."
