MSNBC’s Chris Matthews was at it again on Monday with his wacky comments, this time comparing President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Uday and Qusay Hussein —the murderous adult children working for their ruthless father and Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
Of course, Matthews claimed he only compared the kids in jest:
Let me just say, you know, we kid…I kid about everything, but Uday and Qusay working for Saddam Hussein – you couldn’t go to a restaurant and have eye contact with those guys without getting killed. These people are really powerful. Imagine getting into a fight in the office with Jared or Ivanka, they have enormous power, and they’re always gonna be there.
The comparisons were made after it was revealed that both Jared and Ivanka’s role with the Trump administration would be growing. Kushner was recently tasked to restructure the government by using private sector solutions, while Ivanka would be getting an office in the West Wing to work with her father.
Matthews continued: “These people are really powerful…imagine getting into a fight in the office with Jared or Ivanka, they have enormous power, and they’re always gonna be there.”
Also on the panel was Politico’s Annie Karni, who stressed her concerns over Ivanka and Jared’s new status at the White House: “This is what I worry about for other people in the White House...Trump has been described as her father’s eyes and ears on the ground. That’s a little scary if you’re just a regular White House staffer.”
Not everyone agreed with Matthews and Karni. Andrew Mark Miller of Young Conservatives wrote, “Chris Matthews is one of the many liberals who has completely lost touch with reality now that Donald Trump is president…It’s one thing to not like Trump’s policies. It’s quite another to smear him at every turn and compare his administration to that of genocidal maniacs.”
