Ideas for show themes must be in short supply in the world of Chelsea Handler’s Netflix show. In Wednesday’s “How Dark My Life Once Was,” she goes to the well for a second time to gather support for her lame threat to move to Canada should Donald Trump win the election on November 8.
Handler proudly flaunts her delicate snowflake persona – she couldn’t possibly live in America if her chosen candidate doesn’t win the election. So, she brings on Paul Greenberg, a Canadian now living in America, to interview a loony liberal husband and wife, Pam and David Drucker – she isn’t even original in spotlighting these these two ex-pats – who actually moved to Vancouver when George W. Bush was re-elected in 2004. That’s right, though most liberals didn’t actually move out of the country after making silly promises to do so, this couple did keep their word. Big John Kerry supporters, they claim they just were not able to live in America after that. Not really sure why they didn’t come back after the most liberal president ever was elected in 2008.
Greenberg asks what they will do “when millions of refugees” stream into Canada if Trump wins. This is when the truth comes out – David Drucker says he’ll welcome them IF “they have the right attitude” – an attitude of “cooperation and we are all in this together.” What? He left America because it was all about his own weak fortitude. He didn’t pull together with others in cooperation. Greenberg then notes it’s not “every man for himself,” but socialism that they desire. Pam Drucker says, “That’s a nice word.” Wow. Only a far left liberal would think socialism is a nice word.
David Drucker misses live classical music – the Boston Symphony is his favorite – and laments the lack of quality universities and colleges in Canada. He’s quite the liberal snob. No wonder an everyman kind of guy like George W. Bush offended him so much. The Druckers won’t be coming back to live in America, as they have become Canadian citizens. That is some serious derangement. Good riddance.
A handy graphic appears with the names of some celebrities who are also pledging to move to Canada – so we can hold them to it if it comes down to it, although I don’t think that was Chelsea’s intention. The list includes Amber Rose, Amy Schumer, Raven-Symoné, Barbra Streisand, Keegan-Michael Key, Miley Cyrus, Lena Dunham, George Lopez, Chloe Sevigny, Neve Campbell, and Samuel L. Jackson. Chelsea said it was stupid of Lopez to make that pledge since “he’ll be deported anyway.” Makes me wish all the more for a Hillary Clinton defeat.
