After a week of trashing Republicans as racist and “mutinous,” a giddy Chris Matthews ended MSNBC’s GOP convention on a high note, eagerly anticipating the way more “fun” Democratic convention next week. Late Thursday night, Matthews enthused, “Philly’s going to be fun. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. A lot more celebrities, a lot more Hollywood, a lot more bold print.”
Liberal panelist David Corn mocked, “Maybe less anger.” Fellow guest Dana Milbank assured there would be “a lot less intrigue.” The Philadelphia native Matthews announced, “There will be no anger in Philly. It’s the city of Brotherly love and sisterly affection.”
Earlier in the night, the Hardball host insisted that Trump mentioning big city names is racist “coded language.” On Tuesday night, Matthews sneered that “bloodthirsty” GOP delegates wanted to “kill” Hillary Clinton.
One would assume that, what with all the “fun” and “celebrities” at the Democratic convention, MSNBC hosts won’t be talking about “bloodthirsty,” racist Democratic delegates.
