"I would call this newspaper sophomoric but it's an insult to sophomores," quipped NewsBusters executive editor Tim Graham, on the December 9 edition of Fox Business Network's Risk & Reward, reacting to the latest New York Daily News cover which depicts Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump as having beheaded the Statue of Liberty. "It's a cartoon, it obviously is a cartoon but the whole newspaper has been a cartoon the last few weeks."
"They would say that Trump is petty and outrageous and not very deep," Graham noted, "and yet, that's exactly what these covers are."
The liberal media "are just in such high dudgeon... they're much more against Donald Trump than they are against [San Bernardino terrorists Syed] Farook and [Tashfeen] Malik, who shot 14 people dead," Graham complained to host Gerri Willis.
Asked by Willis about the liberal media's rampant speculation in the early hours that explored virtually all kinds of possibilities but radical Islamist terrorism, Graham replied that in a perverse way the media "wanted the right-wing militia [to be the culprit].... So it's really sad because they really are treating Trump as more outrageous and we're not focused on what did this government, the current president do, that he's so weak in terms of letting ISIS strike on our soil."
