CNN's Chris Cuomo shot back at conservative critics of CNBC in a series of posts on Twitter, after the network displayed a clear liberal bias at their Wednesday Republican presidential debate. Cuomo contended that "the idea that all media is biased is silly." The New Day anchor later asked, "How is CNBC liberal? There are many biases at play in every aspect of society. Lumping all media together is unfair".
The CNN journalist, who has a long record of slanting to the left himself, first indicated that there is no political slant in the media in a response to a Twitter user who underlined that the Republican presidential candidates "going after the media is a no brainer when the media treats people like they have no brain and are so painfully biased":
Nearly a half hour later, Cuomo emphasized that he "grew with a pol as a pop and as a best friend in my brother and i think it is nonsense for pols to blame media."
The anchor more overtly denied the media's long history of liberal bias mere minutes later:
He also agreed with a liberal Twitter user who claimed that "last nights media-blaming was just a weak duck&cover for questions they couldn't or rather not answer clearly":
Cuomo seconded another liberal's response, which played up that "the debate was on CNBC - a conservative business channel":
He then doubled-down by explicitly denying that CNBC was biased:
The CNN anchor later defended himself when a conservative Twitter blasted him for failing to "acknowledge the hostility of the questions by the CNBC panel:"
Cuomo also defended the self-purported "moderate" reputation of his network:
It should be pointed out that mere hour before Cuomo launched his defense of the media in general and CNBC specifically, veteran liberal journalist Carl Bernstein slammed CNBC for the "really reprehensible" way the network conducted the debate.
Cuomo also revealed in the midst of his multi-post denial/defense that he has NewsBusters on his mind, to say the least:
He also claimed that his brother Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic governor of New York, is "anything but far left."
