NBC News foreign correspondent Bill Neely interviewed Syrian President and brutal dictator Bashar Al-Assad that began airing on Wednesday night and, somehow, large portions of the hour-long special were dedicated to harping on Donald Trump’s candidacy, if his lack of foreign policy experience concerned Assad and if his Muslim ban hurt his feelings.

Journalists still haven’t lost their devotion to the Kennedys. The Today show on Thursday hailed a new documentary on John F. Kennedy Jr. as highlighting “America’s royalty” and a “prince.” Previewing I Am JFK Jr., Savannah Guthrie lauded, “A new documentary sheds light on the life and love of America's prince nearly two decades after his tragic death.” 

All three networks on Thursday touted NBA stars at the ESPY awards making a “call to action" on guns, but only CBS highlighted former Miami Heat player Dwyane Wade demanding a stop to the “shoot to kill” of African Americans. Donald Trump officially launched his presidential bid in 2016, but according to an NBC producer the campaign started “decades” earlier in NBC appearances. For years, Trump campaigned on NBC and CBS late night shows reiterating talking points similar to ones he’s used in his presidential campaign, according to former Tonight Show producer Dave Berg’s July 11, USA Today op-ed.
