On Tuesday, all three network morning shows touted the “immediate backlash” against President Trump’s decision to reduce the size of two national monuments in Utah. Little, if any, attention was paid to supporters of the decision, but liberal opponents threatening legal action got all the headlines.

During the 7 a.m. ET hour of Tuesday’s NBC Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie informed viewers of a “major win for the Trump administration in the U.S. Supreme Court” as a majority of the justices upheld the President’s travel ban. However, just one hour later, correspondent Kristen Welker appeared on the morning show and dismissed the news as only a “minor” victory for the White House.

President Trump scored a big victory on Monday as the U.S. Supreme Court allowed the administration to enforce the third iteration of the travel ban until they could hear the case sometime in early 2018. In its desperation to avoid any discussion of a potential major legislative win for the Trump administration and congressional Republicans, Monday’s NBC Today devoted an astonishing 15 times more coverage to the morning show’s fired co-host Billy Bush attacking President Trump in a New York Times op/ed than to the GOP tax bill working its way through Congress. 

During the political panel discussion on NBC’s Meet the Press on Sunday, moderator Chuck Todd fretted that the removal of an FBI agent from Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation for sending anti-Trump text messages might be “bordering into thought police territory.” The group proceeded to worry that the President would use the incident to discredit the probe.

Both Republicans and Democrats have faced serious allegations of sexual misconduct, but in the month of November, ABC, CBS and NBC spent twice as much time telling viewers about the Republicans’ problems. Nearly two-thirds of this coverage (4 hours, 27 minutes) focused on Republican politicians, compared to 2 hours, 6 minutes spent on the Democrats, a greater than two-to-one disparity.

Monday morning all three major broadcast networks, ABC, NBC and CBS failed to update their viewers with the news that ABC correspondent Brian Ross had been suspended over the weekend for his false “bombshell” report that led the media’s Russia reports Friday morning.

Even as Matt Lauer’s career has gone off the rails into disgrace, the lying is still something to behold. NBC News reported that when executives asked Lauer directly if there ever was any sexual misconduct, Lauer denied it, saying he was “racking his brain and couldn’t think of anything at all,” one executive said.

Well, this is awkward. Disgraced journalist Matt Lauer, who has been accused by multiple women of harassment and possible sexual assault, in 2014 blasted Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand for not “calling out” harassing colleagues in the Senate. Talking to the politician, the man who had a secret locking mechanism to trap young females in his office lectured, “And you didn't name names. Why?”
