After discussing a draft report leaked to the New York Times, Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos sneered, “No word yet on whether they will suppress, dismiss, or endorse the report.” 

CBS This Morning’s Major Garrett on Monday chided Donald Trump for taking an August vacation, highlighting how long he’s been away from the White House and digging up old tweets about Barack Obama’s trips. Yet, the very same network excused and defended Obama’s excursions. 

After Wednesday’s network evening newscasts rushed to slam President Trump’s immigration reform proposal, on Thursday, the morning shows of NBC, ABC, and CBS continued the work of trashing the “hardline” policy and framing it as a “major new controversy” for the administration designed to only appeal to the President’s “hardcore supporters.” 

“Too cozy,” “controversy,” “striking,” “crisis,” “startling,” those were just some of the hyperbolic terms thrown around on Wednesday’s network morning shows as hosts and correspondents panicked over news that President Trump had a casual after-dinner conversation with Vladimir Putin surrounded by dozens of other world leaders at the G20 Summit earlier this month.

Media outlets ranging from CBS to CNN and MSNBC had egg on their faces Tuesday night after their bombshell revelations about a supposedly new, “previously undisclosed” meeting between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin fell flat upon reading a July 8 BuzzFeed news item.

Major Garrett is unhappy with Donald Trump. The CBS This Morning correspondent inserted a petulant commentary to his report on the President’s visit to Poland. Regarding an international press conference, Garrett complained, “In a nation where press freedoms are in flux, the President eagerly criticized the U.S. media and former President Obama.”
