Worst of the Week: Team Obama's Media Helpers Hide Bad News for Democr
October 14th, 2010 9:43 AM
While network correspondents complain about the unfairness of independent advertising, they might ponder the unfairness of their habitual tendency to omit or downplay bad news for Team Obama, especially in the crucial last weeks of a campaign. Consider some of the latest stories that would have drawn much more attention and media hostility if the shoe was on the Republican foot:
O'Donnell vs. O'Donnell: Norah Calls Christine 'Freak Show
October 14th, 2010 6:47 AM
So now we know what Norah thinks of that other O'Donnell, Christine. On today's Morning Joe, the MSNBC O'Donnell referred to the Delaware Senate candidate as a "freak show."
Norah's nasty gibe was a segue off Mike Barnicle's observation that people were fascinated by the miner rescue story because, amidst all the artifice of politics and culture, it was something real.
Newsweek’s Alter Cheers Obama Bringing ‘Poetry’ Back to Campaign
October 13th, 2010 11:06 PM
Appearing as a guest on Wednesday’s The Ed Show on MSNBC, Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter applauded President Obama for bringing "poetry" back into the campaign as he cited former New York Democratic Governor Mario Cuomo’s famous saying about campaigning "in poetry" and governing "in prose." Alter: "Look, he (Obama) overlearned Mario Cuomo's famous lesson. Cuomo said you campaign in poetry and govern…
Chris Matthews: Chamber of Commerce Causing Unemployment, Hurting Econ
October 13th, 2010 10:56 PM
The White House thinks its got a great campaign issue in falsely accusing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of funneling foreign dollars to Republicans, and MSNBC's Chris Matthews is making it clear he's willing to assist the administration in making its case.
Who cares that there's absolutely no factual basis in what President Obama and the "Hardball" host are saying?
So hell-bent on making…
Joe Scarborough Hints to Newt Gingrich: 'Shut Up
October 13th, 2010 4:46 PM
Former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough is wondering if somebody should tell former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to "shut up," in his newest Politico column. In referencing a 1996 best-seller by David Maraniss and Michael Weisskopf, "Tell Newt to Shut Up," the MSNBC host writes that "maybe it's time for someone to deliver that message again" in lieu of recent controversial soundbites from…
CNN's Blitzer: Delaware's Chris Coons a 'Moderate Liberal' Like Biden
October 13th, 2010 3:04 PM
CNN's Wolf Blitzer downplayed the straight liberal record of Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday's Newsroom, as he compared the former senator to Delaware Democratic Senate candidate Chris Coons: "I think we'll find out that he's [Coons] very much in line with the policies of a Joe Biden...sort of a relatively moderate liberal Democrat who's traditionally got a little bit of an independent…
Look Who's Nativist Now
October 13th, 2010 10:37 AM
Oh, this is side-splitting: After exporting U.S. jobs, importing foreign debt and kowtowing to global thugs shamelessly over the past two years, the Obama administration is now playing the America First card. Democrats deserve a Guinness World Record award for their election-season cognitive dissonance.
President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, White House senior adviser David Axelrod…
Maddow as Inquisitor Accuses GOP Heretic of Racism and Attempts to Bur
October 13th, 2010 9:10 AM
Cable television doesn't get any shabbier than this.
In the wake of her train wreck of an interview with GOP congressional candidate Art Robinson, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow resorted to the most threadbare tactic in the left-wing playbook, accusing Robinson of racism on the basis of evidence so barren that even other liberals must have winced in embarrassment.
Fear and Loathing From the Left
October 13th, 2010 8:03 AM
Do you have your John Boehner Halloween costume yet? I know it's not flying off the shelves of your nearest costume headquarters, but you'd never know that listening to President Barack Obama and those who exist to keep the Democratic Party in power.
After Obama's recent attempts to demonize the pro-life Republican Ohio congressman -- and presumptive House Speaker, after the midterms -- the…
Bozell Column: Obama, Now Bashing Foreigners
October 12th, 2010 10:23 PM
A major part of the Barack Obama narrative when he ran for president was his international roots, the global sweep of his life, and how much more cosmopolitan he would be as president than the pedestrian George W. Bush. So it's a little weird to watch Obama yelling from the campaign podium that foreigners are funding political commercials and stealing our elections.
Obama's now stooped to…
GOP Strategist Schools Matthews: 'Palin's Had A Lot More Experience Th
October 12th, 2010 10:06 PM
Have you noticed that it's suddenly become chic for commentators to ask their Republican guests whether or not Sarah Palin is qualified to be president?
As a number of GOP candidates of late have sidestepped the issue, Chris Matthews must have expected GOP strategist Ron Christie to do the same on Tuesday's "Hardball."
Much to the MSNBC host's surprise, Christie not only said she was, but…
Alan Grayson Lies to DUers in Plea for Donations
October 12th, 2010 8:50 PM
Just how desperate is Democrat Congressman Alan Grayson to get re-elected now that even liberals such as Contessa Brewer have questioned both his credibility and ethics? So desperate that Grayson is now pleading for donations at the Democratic Undergound. And in keeping with his normal operating procedure, Grayson accompanied his donation plea with a flat out lie. Here is Grayson making his…
Sloppy 'Experts' At ABC Incorrectly Label Five (of Nine) GOP Seats as
October 12th, 2010 5:44 PM
ABC News, which likes to bill itself as delivering "up-to-the-minute political coverage," on Sunday identified nine key Senate seats and mistakenly labeled five of them as held by Democrats. In front of a map, Good Morning America's Dan Harris pronounced, "Our political unit says nine Democratic-held Senate seats are now leaning Republican. Those are the ones in pink, to the eastern part of…
Overlooked: Obama to Speak at U.S. Chamber-Sponsored 'Business Summit
October 12th, 2010 4:55 PM
When the likes of CBS “Face the Nation” moderator Bob Schieffer and The New York Times are calling out the Obama White House on its efforts to villainize the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, you have to know something is up. However, President Barack Obama hasn’t completely distanced himself from the Chamber, a fact which has gone largely overlooked by an increasingly skeptical media.
According to…
