Stop the presses! The Huffington Post has an incredible scoop about Ted Cruz's response to Obama's State Of The Union address last night. Your expectations will be understandably high when you see the headline they placed on the story: The Ted Cruz Speech He Did Not Want You To See.
So what horror did Cruz commit in his speech that he "Did Not Want You To See?" Did he accidentally agree with Obama's tax and spend policies? Or perhaps he let out with a profane curse? Nope. Watch the video for yourself and it will put you in mind of that Peggy Lee song, "Is That All There Is?" as far as anything resembling a shocking scoop.
So after that buildup in the title, all that happened is that a less than a minute into his response, Cruz paused and started over again. Most likely all that background noise that can be heard in the video threw him off his timing. Horror of horrors! Thank God he did not (GASP!) reach for a water bottle. Even the actual Huffington Post story itself acknowledges that, in contrast to the expectations of the article title, it was really no big deal after all:
A video of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) messing up his response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address was uploaded to YouTube and quickly removed Tuesday night.
In the video, Cruz spoke for just under a minute before pausing to try again.
"Eh, lemme start over," Cruz said before the video cut to the beginning of his remarks for a second time.
Yawn! However, after that letdown, the Huffington Post couldn't resist patting itself on its back and pretending that it captured some secret video containing some sort of actual shocker meant to be hidden for all eternity from public view:
Cruz's team pulled the video from YouTube, but luckily we have it right here for you to see.
Exit Question: What was the funniest thing about last night's SOTU? The Huffington Post acting like it got some sort of sensational scoop with Ted Cruz's response or that Obama sent out a fundraising email to Democrat supporters right after knocking "constant fundraising" in his SOTU speech?
