Daily Kos Week in Review: Ha Ha, You Tea Party Crazies Lost

June 30th, 2012 8:39 AM

The Supreme Court's decision on the Affordable Care Act went pretty much the left's way, so there was no mass meltdown or freakout on Daily Kos. Instead, Kossacks merely taunted and sneered at conservatives who were displeased with the SCOTUS ruling.

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

JeffLieber: Ha, ha, you Tea Party losers lost

...You created an entire movement of crazy people who wore Revolutionary costumes through 90 degree heat and 2 feet of snow. You ran TV ads and radio ads and internet ads and ads you shaved into the backside of your platypus. You bombarded your Senators and Congressmen and Attorneys General with misspelled emails and profane phone calls. You went to town halls and threatened to shoot people... even shoot the President of the United States. You blamed old people and poor people and brown people... and gays (cause why not, right). You worked yourselves into a rabid froth, then gloated and preened with your friends...

And...you lost...'cause the dude you were SURE was your guy...read the Constitution...

Kaili Joy Gray: The bishops' health-care ideas are sexist and anti-Christian

It's not just Republicans who are feeling really, really sad today that millions of Americans will continue to have health care. The Catholic bishops are, of course, also sad...

...Obamacare covers basic health care for women, which, according to the bishops, is unconstitutional and un-freedomy and un-Jesusy and ... uh ... well, ladies and their lady parts are just so icky, so let's not even talk about them, much less cover them in basic health care. Nope, let's just cover them up, period....

...[U]nlike Republicans, they don't favor a "let him die" health care plan. Just a "let her die" plan. Because that's what Jesus would do.

Verbalpaintball: Unlike the right, the left is polite

...On the way to a client meeting yesterday, a colleague of min[e] began railing about Obamacare...

Then, he put on the radio to and from the meeting...

Now, I've never spent too much time listening to [Limbaugh and Savage] because I can't disagree with their view on life more...Having to sit through their entire set, however, gave me a pretty solid understanding of why republicans are the way they are.

Both of of these guys spew hatred. Ugly, nasty, disrespectful, racist hatred...[T]here isn't a single word our side says that has the vitriol, foulness or pyrotechnics of these two.

Our side may portray their side as buffoons, but rarely do they attack in such a personal way. Our side at least maintains our politeness, even the most vocally aggressive of us (Alan Grayson)...

It occurs to me that it's less a case of ideology with republicans than it is venting their anger at the world around them. My colleague HATES Obama and the liberals at an explosive level - and it's clear to see what's fueling that.

These mouthpieces feed into the worst in people. They are the new Hitlers, and will say whatever works to get the response they seek. Screw the truth. It's a case they can't make...

Bill in Portland Maine: On health care, the GOP improvises a la MacGyver

...Rep. Issa nailed it [last Sunday] when he explained what would happen [to Obamacare] when the justices pull the sheet over the corpse (but refrain from putting pennies in its eyes because that would be wasteful government spending): "We'll have to say, 'What can we cobble together?'"  And there you have 21st century America in a nutshell, thanks to the Puritan suicide squad known as the Republican party. We'll let the rest of the world do big and great things while we fiddle around with spit and baling twine "cobbling" things together...

glendenb: Modern conservatism = collective insanity

...Amidst the ruins of the Bush administrations, conservatives were neither chastised nor educated; the ascendant tea party was nothing more than an attempt to redeem conservatism itself.  Faced with disaster in every direction, unable to admit the problem lies not in their stars but themselves, conservatives doubled down on their ideology and have engaged in an idelogical terror that would make Stalin or Chairman Mao proud.
The left - burdened by a connection to reality - has proven unable to deal with the right's lunacy and tantrums for the same reason a parent can't control a child's tantrum.  Pushed bey0nd reason by the ever-unfolding disasters of the Bush presidency, and then the shock of losing to Barack Obama in 2008, conservatives collectively lost their minds and have spent years having a public fit...
