On his HBO show Friday night, Bill Maher wrapped up by accusing conservatives of needing constant reaffirmation, and accused conservative authors of writing "the exact same book" over and over to separate conservatives from their cash.
"Maybe they can only vote once every two years, but they can buy the same book, every three weeks. The exact same book. Over. And over. And over again. [Conservative book covers displayed, listed below.] I don’t know why being a Republican means needing to have your faith recharged five times a day like Dick Cheney’s heart. (Laughter) Because there’s no comparable industry on the Left dedicated to separating liberals from their cash. I mean, unless you count Whole Foods." But when it comes to separating lefties from their cash, shouldn't Maher put on camera how much it costs to see his standup routine in a concert hall? Try $75:
For a show this coming Sunday at the Plaza Theatre in El Paso, Big Stub wanted $105 for the best seats up front. Ticketmaster is selling Maher's March 2 show in Norfolk on March 2 at $74.45 for the best seats. That's about three times what a conservative book costs. Maher's best defense is that you would shell out the same kind of money for lefties like Kathy Griffin. Perhaps Maher's telling his audience "You can afford me. You're paying for HBO. It's not like you're donating money to a church on Sunday."

It's a little odd that Maher would say conservatives write the same book "every three weeks" while he shows a Limbaugh book cover from 1993. It's also a little odd making the "same exact book" charge when your last two books were The New Rules and The New New Rules.
