For the past week, protesters have been involved in violent actions, targeting ICE Agents outside of Newark New Jersey's Delaney Hall detention center, where agents have been bitten, punched, kicked, threatened, and verbally abused, by those falsely claiming that conditions inside the center are inhumane. But if you tuned into MS NOW's Politics Nation with Reverend Al Sharpton last Saturday, you would likely come away thinking that the protests were justified, mostly peaceful, and no big deal.
Last Friday on Fox News's The Will Cain Show, Cain played several clips from recent protests outside the facility, which included chants of, "Shoot yourself in the head, every cop every fed", and, "F*** ICE", as well as a protestor targeting Delaney Hall's Asian Chaplain with, "Mr. F***** Asian P***k. You're a piece of S***", and one yelling in the face of a black ICE agent, "Yeah, go in and F***ing rape people. That's what you do. You're a race traitor, F***you."
Cain also played a clip of one of those peaceful protesters, who was subsequentially arrested on Friday for making direct threats against an ICE Agent and his family, which included, "I'll kill your whole F***ing family. You're whole family is dead. Your children, your wife are all dead. I have your face mother-f*****, you're dead."
Sharpton began his segment on the protests by playing a clip of New Jersey's Democrat Governor Mikie Sherrill, who set the tone.
SHERRILL: I'm grateful to the vast majority of protesters who have assembled peacefully and raised their voices about Delaney Hall's conditions. That's exactly where our focus needs to be right now. Advocating for better conditions for those inside the facility.
The "vast majority" have been peaceful? Did she have a head count? After Sharpton introduced his panel, he gave a disclaimer.
SHARPTON: Full disclosure, National Action Network has been part of the peaceful demonstration outside of Delaney Hall. Pastor Steffie Bartley, who pastors in New Jersey or was at the press conference with the Governor this afternoon to emphasize his commitment to orderly, nonviolent protests but committed to the protest.
He then turned to fake "Republican strategist" and MS NOW contributor Susan Del Percio and asked how Governor Sherrill should be handling the situation.
DEL PERCIO: She's trying to find the right balance, and she's also basically demanding that let her law enforcement, state law enforcement, be on the ground to manage the situation. That tends to lower things down the tensions a bit. When people see their local law enforcement, State police or Newark police on the ground versus ICE Agents, We know that federal agents also, just by their presence, tend to ratchet up the volume.
So far, she's doing a good job. She's trying to work with the federal government, which is important, but she's also respecting the right of protesters to be out there, which of course they do. And peaceful protests is encouraged, it should be encouraged by all Americans. That's who we are as a nation. Protesters have to respect the law, and they should also be respected by the law.
No mention of the violence that had taken place or the fact that reportedly, Sherrill had prevented New Jersey police from assisting ICE. And Sharpton's question to Democrat Strategist and MS Now Contributor Juanita Tolliver, was as misleading as can be. And boy was she ready to pile on with more.
SHARPTON: Juanita, the Trump Administration and their allies are working overtime to depict these demonstrators as domestic terrorists and troublemakers. How do they best make their voices heard, without losing support of the public?
TOLLIVER: What you just described is the same playbook that was deployed in Minnesota when federal agents were killing American citizens who were protesting. I think that we should expect DHS to continue on that line....This is about the human beings who are being subjected to conditions, which Senator Cory Booker described as a moral stain.
Sharpton failed to point out that DHS specifically disputed the claims made by Booker, shocking indeed. He then made a comment which seemingly can be open to interpretation when it comes to violence.
SHARPTON: It's a moral issue. Many of the faith leaders and others will say, they are not going to play and do violence, but it's a moral issue.
Unfortunately, this is typical liberal media coverage, which leaves out the facts to push a radical leftist narrative. When it comes to ICE, they will always be the enemy, while those who attack ICE, will get a pass.
