Given the level of hypocrisy on The View, it should be no surprise that co-host Sunny Hostin on Monday defended the hateful comments by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, smearing GOP attacks on her as just another example of the Republican Party’s “Islamophobia.”
Days after Omar compared the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban, Hostin huffed, “This is just more of the same of the GOP's strategy of attacking the squad, of attacking women of color, of attacking Ilhan Omar in particular. It's evidence of their Islamophobia.”
Of course, rather than discuss the Democrat’s disgusting smear, Hostin brought up that Omar is a “woman of color.”
It's really the height of hypocrisy that all of a sudden they are getting together to ban, again women of color rather than sweeping up their own House which is just, at this point, irretrievably dirty. It's despicable, but it’s just par for the course for this Republican caucus.

Look, I really bristle at the idea of equating the Taliban and Hamas to Israel and the United States. Under the Taliban Ilhan Omar, Congresswoman Omar knows this. She would not be allowed to be in a leadership position. She wouldn't be allowed to be educated. They're terrorist organizations. Doing this kind of comparison doesn't serve her any favors

SUNNY HOSTIN: This is just more of the same of the GOP's strategy of attacking the squad, of attacking women of color, of attacking Ilhan Omar in particular. It's evidence of their Islamophobia. It's evidence of the fact they think she won't be protected by her caucus. Nancy Pelosi was on CNN early in the morning on Dana Bash's show. She made it clear that the Democrats are supporting her, that the caucus is supporting her and she made that clarifications. End of story. This is nothing new from the Republicans. I wish I saw a lot more of that energy director against people Marjorie Taylor Greene and perhaps Lauren Boebert and perhaps Josh Hawley and perhaps his role in the insurrection. Perhaps they need to vote on a commission to investigate instead of being the cowards they've been. And so, it's really the height of hypocrisy that all of a sudden they are getting together to ban, again women of color rather than sweeping up their own House which is just, at this point, irretrievably dirty. GOLDBERG: Ana, is this outrage over her statement possibly -- does it have any justification? It seems she named everybody.

Let's put this in context. This is coming at a time when there's been a huge spike in anti-Semitic crimes. It's also coming at a time when Ilhan Omar said and made regrettable statements she needed to clean up and apologize for in the past. It wasn't just Republicans being outraged by what she said. It was many of her Democratic colleagues. There was a letter issued by at least 12 of her colleagues condemning her statements. She quickly clarified them. Both things need to be said. She has got all of her right to say what she wants. People have all the right to be outraged and not like what she says. That's why we live in America, why we don't live under Hamas or Taliban rule. Because we have freedom of expression. At the same time I don't like her statements, I completely condemn some of the calls I saw her release of people calling her and harassing her and threatening her and attacking her and saying horrible things to her. We can disagree with her. We can condemn her statements. But then using racist tropes against her is inexcusable and should have no room in our democracy.
GOLDBERG: Joy, are you seeing a double standard here at all?
JOY BEHAR: Well, as usual, you know, there is a double standard. The hypocrisy on the Republican side is astoundingly thick. Didn't Marjorie Taylor Greene say the masked mandate in the House of Representatives were equal to wearing a gold star during the Holocaust? I mean, that is a very inflammatory statement. It caused this meme with all these people wearing the gold star.
