Don’t let the booing, the resignation of the Democratic National Committee Chairwoman and the general chaos at Hillary Clinton’s convention fool you. No matter what happens, it will be magic. That’s according to Chris Matthews. The liberals MSNBC host on Monday dismissed the leaked e-mails showing that Hillary Clinton sabotaged Bernie Sanders and gushed, “I think Thursday night's going to be magic, no matter what happens tonight or tomorrow night.”
At last week’s Democratic convention, Matthews reveled in conflict amongst Republicans. But on Monday he fawned, “I think it will become so amazing that we see a woman nominated for the presidency of the United States in a very plausible future. She will be the president. I think that's going to grab women my age, women younger, girls, men. Good people are going to say, 'This is great for America.'”
Got that? “Good people” will love Thursday's speech. On Friday’s Hardball, he used the same line, prognosticating, “Nobody knows how dramatic it's going to be.... It's going to be a magic moment.”
In contrast, Matthews on Wednesday night called out Ted Cruz as “mutinous” and someone who “sabotaged” Donald Trump. There, he did not try and paper over differences and certainly didn’t see any “magic.” He even wondered if “bloodthirsty” GOP delegates wanted to “kill” Clinton.
Previewing Clinton’s problems with e-mails, which now seem to be growing, Matthews last week dismissed the Democrat’s server controversy as “blah, blah, blah.”
On Monday, the MSNBC host, who famously had a “thrill” up his leg for Barack Obama, hyped Clinton’s speech and predicted it will be like “Grant Park back in 2008 when we saw people like Jesse Jackson crying [over Obama].”
