Liberal actor Zach Galifianakis appeared on Good Morning America, Wednesday, to whine about the "gross amount of money being spent" on American elections. While promoting The Campaign, his new movie, the comic derided the Citizens United Supreme Court ruling and lamented, "Something's wrong."
Galifianakis first insisted that The Campaign, which showcases two southerners fighting for a congressional seat, isn't "either left or right." He then insisted, "The one thing I think that most citizens would be able to agree on in this movie is the gross amount of money that is being spent on these elections." [See video below. Galifianakis continued, "Something's wrong, and I think the fact we know about this race for two years" [proves it].
The comic then pressed Stephanopoulos as to whether he likes two year long presidential campaigns.
The GMA host responded, "I enjoy it, but I worry that people get too turned off when it's going on that long. "
In 2011, Galifianakis joined a drum circle at an Occupy Wall Street rally.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Now, you've got some politics in your blood. I think the first member of Congress I ever became aware of was your uncle, Nick Galifianakis down in North Carolina.
ZACH GALIFIANAKIS: Yes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: And loved his slogan. He said, "You'll remember my name. It begins with a gal and ends with a kiss."
GALIFIANAKIS: That's right. He also, because we have 12 letters in or name. He also had a watch that spelled Galifianakis where the numbers usually are. But, yeah, he ran against Jesse Helms in 1972 for Senate.

GALIFIANAKIS: I've been handing out money. Yeah. We were in Chicago and handed out- I had some extra money in my wallet and I just gave it to some people to try and win them over.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Did it work?
GALIFIANAKIS: Yeah, that works. Trust me. That is the American political system. Yes.
STEPHANOPOULOS: That's the point you guys are making in the movie.
GALIFIANAKIS: I don't think the movie, George, is either, really, left or right, so much. The one thing I think that most citizens would be able to agree on in this movie is the gross amount of money that is being spent on these elections, the Citizens United decision and all that kind of thing. Something's wrong, and I think the fact we know about this race for two years- For you, that's good for you. Do you like that?
STEPHANOPOULOS: Like what, the money?
GALIFIANAKIS: No, do you like the fact that it's covered for that long?
STEPHANOPOULOS: I enjoy it, but I worry that people get too turned off when it's going on that long.
GALIFIANAKIS: Yeah.
