Peter Navarro Gives CNN's Berman a Hydroxychloroquine Homework Assignment

CNN, along with MSNBC, remains one of the media bastions still remaining hostile toward the use of hydroxychloroquine. One big reason for this hostility is that President Donald Trump has been publicizing its use in the treatment of coronavirus. Therefore if the Orange Man thinks it is good, then CNN (and MSNBC) automatically think it is bad.

An example of this attitude came on Monday when New Day anchor John Berman got into an argument with the Director of the  White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, Peter Navarro. Berman's ire was raised by Navarro's defense of the hydroxychloroquine treatment.

JOHN BERMAN: I have spoken to Dr. Rob Gore who is on the front lines treating patients inside a hospital in Brooklyn and as you said, yes, they are giving patients hydroxychloroquine. When I asked him whether it works, he says, "We don't know." They simply don't know.

Stop the tape! Stop the tape! Let us go to the CNN transcript to check the conversation on this topic that Berman had with Dr. Gore on Monday during another segment of New Day:

BERMAN: Hey, have you been using Hydroxychloroquine with your patients and how has it been working for you?

DR. ROB GORE: So I used it last night for the first time. It's been -- some of the internal medicine docs on the floors are starting to recommend that. But I -- it's too early for me to determine if there's going to be any major outcome with using it. Like with any drug, every time you use it, there can be some consequences. With Hydroxychloroquine, you can get nausea, vomiting, there can be issues with hair loss, also even cardiac dysrhythmias or abnormal heart rhythms.

Wow! So Dr. Gore has been using the hydroxychloroquine treatment for a grand total of just a few hours at the time you spoke to him, John. Maybe you should at least wait until a doctor uses this treatment for a minimum of a couple of weeks before citing him as declaring that "We don't know?"

After Berman questioned Navarro's credentials to even dare to weigh in on a medical matter, Navarro shot back with an interesting challenge:

PETER NAVARRO: One thing I would like to ask you to do, John, as you speak to these doctors and nurses and other people at  the front lines. Ask them how many of them are taking hydroxy as a prophylactic in the war zone.

So will John Berman follow through and ask that question of doctors, nurses, and other health care workers? Oh, and John, please check back with Dr. Gore in a couple of weeks to find out how effective he has found hydroxychloroquine to be and whether he is using it to protect himself.

Exit Question: Have CNN anchors Chris Cuomo and Brooke Baldwin already taken hydroxychloroquine aka "Trump Pills" to treat their coronavirus?
