First, it was almost seven solid months of 24/7 Russia Russia Russia blasting from the mainstream media. Recently that vanished to be replaced by a new MSM theme, Racist Racist Racist. And after President Donald Trump's rally on Tuesday in Phoenix, it has morphed into Crazy Crazy Crazy. Only the most fringe elements out there are continuing to place their faith in Trump leaving office because of supposed collusion with the Russians. That is so first half of 2017.
So what sort of fringe crazies are still clutching to Russia Russia Russia? Well, apparently, Keith Olbermann is grasping at completely laughable straws in the desperate hope that it will soon lead to Trump's departure. He so badly needs it that his promotion of that conspiracy theory, that even Jake Tapper seems to have backed away from it, could best be described as Resignation Porn. Here is Olbermann's August 22 'Resistance' video in which he feigns certainty that Trump's resignation is just around the corner:
There are new hints that Bob Mueller may be approaching the end game on Trump and Russia.
...This came out of nowhere: "prediction just in from top Republican strategist: Trump resigns "once Mueller closes in on him and the family,' Pence makes Rubio VP, 'GOP recovers.'"
...The rest of it is fascinating, especially the identity of the reporter who tweeted it.
Who? Who? Who? Don't hold back, Keith!
I have known John Harwood for fourteen years. He was the White House correspondent then the chief political correspondent for the Wall Street Journal. I used to put him on Countdown all the time. For a decade he has been the chief Washington correspondent for CNBC. He moderated a GOP debate in 2015. They whined about him of course. Harwood plays stuff very close to the vest. Even though he was in a Bobby Kennedy ad as a kid we used to consider him a small "C" conservative kind of reporter. "Trump resigns once Mueller closes in on him and the family." That tweet is very unlike John Harwood. Now Harwood's source could be wrong but he is not a lone voice in the wilderness.
Yeah, a small "C" conservative who plays it so close to the vest that we simply can't figure out where his political sympathies lie due his rock solid neutral reputation which he displayed while moderating a 2015 Republican primary debate. It must only be our wild imaginations that could have perceived that he gloated about his questions to Trump in one of his many emails to John Podesta as revealed by WikiLeaks.

For backup validation, Olbermann cited another "close to the vest" reporter, Carl Bernstein, who recently let loose with a flurry of tweets citing unnamed Republicans, conservatives, and military people who claim Trump is unfit for office.
Hey, cased closed! Trump resignation imminent!
Olbermann goes into several more iterations of over the top excitement with his Trump resignation fantasy including Paul Manafort "flipping" on him, a Ukrainian computer "geek" who wrote malware, the James Comey firing, and Reince Priebus appearing on Manafort's calendar. All that was missing from Olberman's litany of conspiracy links were the South Park Underpants Gnomes.
Olberman concludes with this Trump resignation fantasy:
For weeks now I have been anticipating that Trump's last day in office will dawn like all the others and then around dinnertime it will suddenly break that he is about to resign. I don't know if that is next Tuesday or next year. But I think whenever it is, that is what it will feel like.
Olbermann then pulled a John Harwood encore by reading his tweet again based on a nameless source that Trump's resignation is imminent. All that was missing was burning incense to goddess Gaia to please please please make Trump resign soon so Olbermann would not have to spend all of eternity sulking in his bathtub.
