Today is June 14, the birthday of President Donald Trump. Although Joe Scarborough is a big opponent of Trump, he at least wished him a "Happy Birthday" (with a caveat). Unfortunately that was a normal civility too far for his Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinsky who scrunched up her face in distaste and shook her head negatively when invited by Scarborough to join in the birthday wish. So much for even an attempt at the "civil discourse" that liberals were demanding a few years ago before the era of angrily cursing became their new idea of discourse.
Keep your eyes fixed on Mika's facial expressions as Joe wishes "Happy Birthday" to the President.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Today is the President's birthday. Happy birthday, Mr. President. Seventy-one today, and about as energetic, more energetic than many people would wish, but Happy Birthday, Mr. President. Seventy-one!
Hmmm... "More energetic than many people would wish." Interesting caveat there, Joe. So you think many people wish he would slow down so as not to get his agenda passed? However, caveat or not, Mika just absolutely refused to wish Trump a Happy Birthday when invited to do so by Joe.
SCARBOROUGH: Mika, wish the President Happy Birthday. I called him "Donald" to somebody, they said, "Call him Mr. President!" So I said we knew him for ten years, twelve years as "Donald" so there's some adjustment but you want to say "Happy Birthday?"
Nope that was too much for Miss Civil Discourse Mika who quickly shifted the conversation to Mike Barnicle pondering about singing "Happy Birthday" in a Marilyn Monroe type sultry voice. But as far as her wishing President Trump a Happy Birthday, naw, not going to happen as indicated by her sourpuss facial expressions.
Exit question: Will a video clip of a grumpy Mika shaking her head nixing normal civility go viral on the Web?
