When I noticed about 90 minutes ago that Joy Reid was once again filling in for MSNBC's Martin Bashir after having done so last week, I started wondering if this wasn't a vacation at all, and if the man who last month suggested someone should defecate and urinate in former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's mouth was actually being punished for it.
Almost on cue, Politico's Dylan Byers wrote moments ago:
Sources at the network said Bashir had been temporarily suspended from the network following graphic remarks he made last month about the former governor from Alaska. [...]
MSNBC spokesperson Lauren Skowronski told a different story: "He’s still out on vacation," she wrote in an email. Asked multiple times when Bashir would return from vacation, Skowronski did not respond.
Has MSNBC actually suspended Bashir but doesn't want to divulge that to viewers who don't think he did anything wrong and instead believe there's nothing too vulgar or vile that can be said about conservatives especially Palin?
If that's the case, why is MSNBC taking such steps to protect not only its lowest rated anchor, but one of the lowest rated anchors in cable news?
On the other hand, maybe he's just on vacation and we'll never know the truth.
After all, why would one expect to hear facts from one of the most dishonest so-called "news" outlets in the nation today?
