Keith Olbermann on Friday was booed for making fun of Al Gore.
Potentially even funnier, this happened moments after CBS’s Craig Ferguson mocked Olbermann for owning “a little dog that fits in your purse as you go around to your outspoken liberal meetings” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
After a commercial break, Ferguson mentioned that Olbermann had just gotten a dog.
“What kind of dog is it?” Ferguson asked.
“A small dog,” Olbermann replied. “I didn't check what it was.”
“Is it a little dog that fits in your purse as you go around to your outspoken liberal meetings?” Ferguson marvelously asked.
After being pressed some more, Olbermann finally admitted, “It’s a Maltese.”
“A Maltese?” Ferguson said incredulously.
“It’s a little dog,” answered Olbermann. “It’s a white Maltese.”
“What happened to you, man?” Ferguson marvelously said. “Why’d you get a tiny little dog? Why didn't you get like a regular American dog? You got the tiny little Maltese dog? What the hell?”
“I live in an apartment in New York,” Olbermann said, “and this is just the right size for the dog.”
“Are you going to teach it to do stuff?” asked Ferguson.
“It does my taxes right now,” joked Olbermann. “Very close to speaking and beginning to give me instructions on what to do. You know, ‘You will,’ and then goes back to barking.”
“Are you sure you're not talking about Al Gore again?” Ferguson humorously asked.
“No, because he was never that clear,” Olbermann joked immediately receiving grumbles, oohs, and boos from the crowd.
For those unfamiliar, this is the kind of dog Olbermann owns:
Cute, isn't it?
