Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz) fired a gun Monday for the first time since she was shot in January 2011.
As odd as it might seem, she did this as she and her husband Mark Kelly set off on their "Rights and Responsibilities" bus tour pushing for stricter gun control laws.
As ABCNews.com reported, Giffords and Kelly were at the Clark County Shooting Complex in Las Vegas.
Giffords, wearing an arm brace, took one shot before giving the pistol to her husband.
The couple will now head to seven states in seven days to pressure a number of Senators who voted against the Toomey-Manchin bill earlier this year.
These include Dean Heller (R-Nev.), Mark Begich (D-Alaska), Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Rob Portman (R-Oh.), and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.).
Kelly told CNN's Jake Tapper Monday, "We don’t rule out any option that gets us to the place where members of Congress will do what the American people are asking,"
Kelly said this could include he and his wife supporting candidates in primaries to defeat incumbent Democrats who voted against the bill.
Targets might include Begich, Heitkamp, Max Baucus (D-Mt.), and Mark Pryor (D-Ar.).
With Begich and Pryor up for re-election in 2014, such a strategy could end up jeopardizing Democrat desires to hold the Senate in next year's crucial midterm elections.
Giffords and Kelly apparently aren't concerned with that.
Of course, it goes without saying the gun-hating press will be all over this bus tour with fawning coverage of Giffords and Kelly.
Stay tuned.
