Entertainers like Beyoncé, Diddy, and Rap producer Russell Simmons have joined some of the nation's top fashion designers to create merchandise whose sales will support Barack Obama's reelection.

As MTV.com reported Friday (bags pictured by Diane Von Furstenberg):

Beyoncé was clearly keeping very busy in the weeks leading up to the birth of Billboard record-setting baby Blue Ivy
. Among the projects she participated in is "Runway to Win," in which a number of celebrities and fashion industry icons were tapped to design T-shirts and other swag for President Obama's re-election campaign. [...]

In addition to Beyoncé, Diddy and hip-hip impresario Russell Simmons, others who've thrown in include First Lady Michelle Obama fave designer Jason Wu, as well as Rachel Roy, Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, rag & bone, Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, Tory Burch and Tracy Reese.

New York magazine broke the news Monday:

Fashion folks have had a cozy relationship with the Obamas from the get-go, with Anna Wintour leading the charge (she's hosted the Obamas for fund-raising dinners at her West Village townhouse several times, and been invited to many a fancy White House function in turn). Now she's helped organize an initiative called Runway to Win, which will sell merchandise like T-shirts, tote bags, scarves, and bracelets to raise money for Obama's reelection campaign. [...]

Designers who have already volunteered to make swag for the Obama campaign include many of those whose careers have profited from Michelle Obama wearing their clothes, like Rachel Roy, Jason Wu, and Narciso Rodriguez; also onboard are Marc Jacobs, Diane Von Furstenberg, rag & bone, Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, Tory Burch, and Tracy Reese.

Here's Beyoncé's offering priced at $45:

Although sales don't start until February 7, the website is already up at Obama for America.
