Sununu Scolds Media for Falling in Love with ‘Non-Candidate’ Huntsman

Former New Hampshire governor John Sununu on Wednesday scolded the media for falling in love with Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman.

Appearing on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Sununu said, “The fact is you missed the whole story here” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Early in the segment, host Joe Scarborough asked his guest about how the polls in the final days showed Mitt Romney losing steam and then closing Tuesday to a huge victory in New Hampshire.

Sununu responded, “The tracking poll was wrong in the early days and they covered their butt on the last day.”

"It was in my opinion,” he continued, “the numbers were going to be like the Bush-Dole in ’88, which was a 38-29 race. The press didn’t want to hear it. You fell in love with a non-candidate who camped out here for six months and you thought he was going to do something."

Of course he was referring to Huntsman who despite his posturing has to be disappointed with third place given all the time he spent in New Hampshire.

It will be interesting to see if this result diminishes the press's support for Huntsman or if they are going to continue their love affair.

Stay tuned.
