Fox News's Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday told Bill Clinton, "You should suggest to President Obama that he appoint me Secretary of Housing."
The former President in his first appearance on The O'Reilly Factor seemed to like the concept saying, “I will tell him tonight...That’s probably the best idea he’s had” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):
At the end of the unedited video of the interview posted at FoxNews.com, Clinton told O’Reilly that he needs to look more into the mortgage crisis and figure out a “good conservative resolution” to it.
O’Reilly replied, “I’m not conservative, I’m independent.”
The pair then briefly discussed the history of previous housing-related economic crises with O’Reilly telling the former President, “You should suggest to President Obama that he appoint me Secretary of Housing if he’s reelected.”
A somewhat stunned Clinton replied, “Are you willing to serve?”
“Absolutely,” replied O’Reilly with a big smile on his face.
“I will tell him tonight,” Clinton said. “I will call tonight. That’s probably the best idea he’s had.”
“Yeah, I know,” joked O’Reilly. “He’ll be really excited to hear that.”
