Kathleen Parker on Tuesday admitted that she won the Pulitzer Prize because she's a "conservative basher."
Having likely heard the gang on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" discussing Monday's announcement concerning her award, Parker called in to the program and was introduced by the host, "[S]omething big happened last night: A conservative won a Pulitzer Prize. It just never happens."
Scarborough continued, "Kathleen, I'm sure the entire right wing of American politics is going to hoist you on their shoulders now because you won a Pulitzer Prize."
Parker then said what most on the Right are likely thinking about this announcement (video follows with partial transcript, h/t Twitter's @IKIDYOUNOT, file photo):
JOE SCARBOROUGH: I'm going to break the law, I'm going to break it again because something big happened last night: A conservative won a Pulitzer Prize. It just never happens. With us on the phone right now, Pulitzer Prize winner Kathleen Parker. She heard us talking about her. Her ears were burning. And Kathleen, I'm sure the entire right wing of American politics is going to hoist you on their shoulders now because you won a Pulitzer Prize. How exciting.
KATHLEEN PARKER: I don't, I don't think it's going that way, Joe.
SCARBOROUGH: I don't think so.
PARKER: There, it's only because I'm a conservative basher that I'm now recognized after 23 years of toiling in the fields, right?
Well, at least she's willing to admit it.
