‘Oppressed’ Sunny Hostin Brags She Hasn’t Grocery Shopped Since COVID

Just last month, one of The View’s multimillionaire co-hosts, Sunny Hostin used her platform on ABC to insist that she was “oppressed” and demanded reparations from the U.S. government. But during a Wednesday segment where they were discussing the first-world problem of getting Instacart (a grocery delivery service) orders mixed up, Hostin bragged that she hasn’t been in a supermarket in three years because of COVID.

Amid their conversation about someone else’s Instacart order getting mixed up, Hostin and faux-conservative co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin expressed shock when co-host Joy Behar said she’s never used the expensive service. “You like the grocery store?” Farah Griffin pressed.

“I do. I enjoy a supermarket,” Behar explained herself.

Hostin then bragged that she hasn’t been in a supermarket since the start of the pandemic and touted that she has other people do her shopping for her now:

HOSTIN: I don’t like a supermarket. I haven't been in a supermarket since COVID – for about three years. That's when I discovered Instacart. And I give them a big tip because they don't always pay their people well. And it’s – So, that’s been an issue I think for the company. But man, you can get toiletries, you can get fire logs, you know, those big Bounty towels you don't want to carry.

BEHAR: Yeah. I order those from Costco.

HOSTIN: Somebody else goes!

“I do have a lot of things from Costco, but I like to meander around a supermarket. Do I want this particular type of thing? Do I want tuna fish,” Behar argued in favor of her preferred shopping method.

Instacart adds a hefty charge onto the cost of a shopper’s groceries, understandable since someone else does the work. But it’s something not everyone can afford to do, especially when inflation was hurting average Americans not pulling in the salary of an ABC talk show co-host.

It certainly doesn’t sound like she’s “oppressed.”

Further, Farah Griffin wondered if Behar, a far more recognizable figure than she, gets stopped a lot while she’s shopping by fans. “Only by Trump supporters,” Behar claimed.

Without evidence, she claimed that she likes to talk to them and pick their brains; that’s until they mention Fox News. This drew laughter from the audience:

FARAH GRIFFIN: Never fans. Only [trails off in laughter]

HOSTIN: And they actually talk to you?

BEHAR: Yes, and I talk to them. I say why exactly do you like him? I'm interested to know why they like him. And then they give me Fox News and then I walk away and go shopping. [LAUGHTER] But I like to engage people who disagree with me.

Co-host Sara Haines wondered about the aggravation or safety of the interactions, but Behar scoffed. “What are they going to do, hit me with a mozzarella?” Behar quipped.

Sunny Hostin’s ability to be simultaneously oppressed and wealthy was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Crest and JCPenney. Their contact information is linked.

HAINES: In the grocery store? That’s a peaceful visit for me.

BEHAR: What are they going to do, hit me with a mozzarella?

[LAUGHTER]

HAINES: Maybe the sausage.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: These are the days of our lives. We'll be right back.
