At a recent campaign rally in Elko, Nevada, President Trump told the crowd that Democrats were “openly inviting millions of illegal aliens to break our laws, violate our borders and overwhelm our nation. The Democrats want caravans. They like the caravans.” On Sunday, the liberal journalists of ABC’s Good Morning America were irritated that Trump would call them out and claimed there was no proof of that and said the allegation was “unfounded”.
After huffing about Trump thanking Mexico for stopping the caravan of 3,000 - 4,000 “migrants”, White House correspondent Tara Palmeri asserted Trump was blaming Democrats with no evidence. “Weeks away from the midterms, Trump in Elko, Nevada rallying for Republicans in tight races and sharpening his attacks; blaming the Democrats without any proof for the crisis on the border,” she said.
“The ramped up offensive comes as the President threatens to take drastic measures and send the military to the border,” she added before praising former Vice President Joe Biden for opposing the President.
A short time later, co-anchor Dan Harris brought on ex-Bill Clinton lackey George Stephanopoulos to chide the President’s claim. “Trump once again blaming the Democrats for this caravan. Is that a charge – I mean it’s unfounded – is it likely to stick,” Harris asked.
“Well, not only is it unfounded and the President has also been confusing on that because he's also taking credit for the caravan, saying all these people want to come to the United States because I've made the economy so strong,” Stephanopoulos said.
If Stephanopoulos was willing to blame Trump for the migrants given how well the economy was doing, then it’s not at all unfounded to blame Democrats given their support for sanctuary cities. It's an incentive for many to come to the United States illegally. That’s not to mention that when a caravan was stopped at the border earlier this year, the Democrats and their liberal media friends were incensed.
ABC’s suggestion that Democrats didn’t support the caravans was laughable because, back in June, Sunday’s GMA touted a border protest led by the Kennedy family. And in July, ABC celebrated a #Resistance protest of Trump’s zero-tolerance immigration policy. “Demonstrators demanded legislatures act, Democrats from Congress stepped on stages across the country. Star power also front and center,” boasted ABC’s Kenneth Moton.
That’s not to mention ABC’s favorable coverage of illegal immigrants already in the country. Again in July, ABC joined the other broadcast networks (CBS and NBC) in cutting off coverage of the Colorado Spring Fire after it was discovered it was started by an illegal. They also ignored the city of San Francisco giving illegals the right to vote.
As further evidence of ABC’s preference of illegals, again back in June, they put off reporting on a Border Patrol agent being ambushed and shot so they could report on a raccoon that had climbed a building on Minnesota.
Between Democratic efforts to proliferate sanctuary cities and the liberal media’s obvious effort to ignore illegal immigrants committing crimes, it clear to any honest observer the left embraces these caravans.

Good Morning America
October 21, 2018
8:06:18 a.m. EasternWHIT JOHNSON: We want to move on to other headlines we’re following this morning. The caravan of migrants trying to make its way to the U.S., President Trump is praising Mexico efforts to slow that caravan as he hurls new blame at Democrats. ABC’s White House correspondent Tara Palmeri is at the White House this morning with more of what the President told supporters at a rally in Nevada. Tara good morning.
TARA PALMERI: Good morning Whit. President Trump sees that caravan as a political win. A way to galvanize the base on a key issue, immigration, ahead of the midterms.

At the last stop on his western swing, President Trump thanking Mexico for pushing back this caravan of 3,000 Central American migrants heading towards the U.S.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Is that an incredible situation? It's sad. It’s sad – honestly – It's sad from both sides. [Flash] And I want to thank Mexico. Mexico has been so incredible. [Flash] Because now Mexico respects the leadership of the United States. They haven't done that.
PALMERI: Weeks away from the midterms, Trump in Elko, Nevada rallying for Republicans in tight races and sharpening his attacks; blaming the Democrats without any proof for the crisis on the border.
TRUMP: The Democrat Party -- and it's openly inviting millions of illegal aliens to break our laws, violate our borders and overwhelm our nation. The Democrats want caravans. They like the caravans.
PALMERI: The ramped up offensive comes as the President threatens to take drastic measures and send the military to the border.
TRUMP: I will seal off the border before they come into this country. And I'll bring out our military.
PALMERI: On the other side of the state, former Vice President Joe Biden stumping for Democrats.
JOE BIDEN: What the hell is going on in America? Ripping infants from their mothers' arms at the borders. What are we doing? What have we become?
[Cuts back to live]
PALMERI: President Trump was taking shots at Biden even asking the crowd for suggestions of a new nickname. One woman shouted “Creepy Joe”, but President Trump said he wouldn't go that far. He did say, though, that he hopes that Biden would be the 2020 nominee because he thinks he could easily take him on.
(…)
DAN HARRIS: Trump once again blaming the Democrats for this caravan. Is that a charge – I mean it’s unfounded – is it likely to stick?
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, not only is it unfounded and the President has also been confusing on that because he's also taking credit for the caravan, saying all these people want to come to the United States because I've made the economy so strong. So, you got that argument right there.
I think it's a mix for the President. On one hand, this whole issue of immigration energizes enflames his base and gets his voters out. That's why he goes back to it on the stump. At the same time, the family separation policy is tremendously unpopular and probably fueling opposition to the President especially in those swing House districts – in suburban House districts where the opposition is very very strong.
I think it's a kind of mixed bag for the President. I don't think it's going to be the top issue going into this election. And then when you look at our poll – our ABC News poll with the Washington Post, it shows on the issue of immigration overall Americans trust Democrats more than Republicans.
