MRC president Brent Bozell appeared on Monday afternoon's edition of "Your World with Neil Cavuto" on the Fox News Channel. Brent and guest host Eric Bolling discussed how the network Sunday shows all pushed "climate change" segments after Senate Democrats complained that the subject had been allegedly ignored over the last few years.
Democrats haven't moved any "climate change" legislation since Republicans took over the House in the 2010 midterms. Over time, the media have insisted on the severity of warming, but have said very little about the severity of proposed government "solutions" for this problem. Now, in one day, the networks devoted more minutes to "global warming" panic than the alleged left-wing figure the Democrats have used for the last several years:
BOLLING: So, the Senate Democrats said, let's talk global warming -- I'm sorry, -- climate change -- and the media responded.
BOZELL: Yeah, it appears that if some left-wing senators say jump, the networks' answer is, how high? It's an amazing proposition of what happened, Eric. You have some left-wing organization maintain that over the past three years, the networks had only spent 44 minutes on the subject of global warming.I don't know if that’s true or not, but assuming it is, the senators, using that number, all demanded -- these left-wing senators – demand that the networks spend more time. Yesterday alone, one day alone – 45 minutes 52 seconds. More time than the last three years combined. And it was -- except for Fox, which had a balanced panel -- except for Fox, it was a tsunami promoting global warming.
Bolling said “I think that's important there, that some of the Sunday talk shows really leaned heavily on the left's opinion that the climate is changing because of global warming.” Bozell agreed, quoting David Gregory:
BOZELL: He says “In the scientific community, this is not really a debate about whether climate change is real. The consensus is that it is; the majority believe that in fact that it is caused by humans.” So that has been presented as objective truth, and it's nothing of the sort.
Imagine, this Eric. What do you think would be their reaction if a conservative panel from the senate wrote them a letter saying given that 49 states were under snow and we have the most frigid winter in memory, we want to do a series debunking global warming. Do you think they would have reacted this way?
BOLLING: No, I think they would blame it on –
BOZELL: What would have happened if Rand Paul, if Rand Paul and his friends sent a letter to the networks say you ought to be talking about cutting taxes, you think they would listen? If Ted Cruz said you need to do more attention on the right to life, you think they would listen to him for a second?
