Race Obsessed Joy Reid Proclaims 'Yes, Ron DeSantis has BANNED COLOR!'

MSNBC host Joy Reid faced her greatest nightmare during Wednesday’s episode of The ReidOut. She described Republican movements in several states attempting to revive traditional values, warning about the apparent tragedy that would result should these standards be restored in society. And despite being the one who sees the world in the racial tones of black and white, she ridiculously claimed a GOP governor “banned color.”

Reid first launched into a rant constituted by a series of oversimplified representations of Republican policies and values, explaining how they spelled out “manufactured culture wars [that] are nasty work. They’re undemocratic and extreme.” She also claimed that former President Donald Trump’s administration resulted in a massive loss of rights for American citizens:

Under Trump, Americans have lost more rights than they have gained, because to the MAGA party, the woman's rightful place is in the home making her husband a sandwich. Immigrants should go back to where they came from. All college students should be white. And queer folks should hide in the closet, like in the good old days.

Texas drew her ire with its approval of a platform seeking to uphold rigorously traditional values. Reid outlined the platform’s goals, which apparently reminded her of a “19th century horror story,” and even compared them to The Handmaid’s Tale, a popular book and TV show that’s often used to vilify conservatives by illustrating a dystopian future under a grossly distorted version of Judeo-Christian beliefs:

‘Self-sufficient family based on traditional marriage between a natural man and a natural woman.’ They deem that sex education should be forbidden. Abortion is homicide. IVF is criminal. Gender-affirming care is child abuse. Homosexuals have no legal rights. The state's ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment for women is no longer valid. And prayer, Bible study, and Christian religion should return to schools, courthouses, and other government buildings.

Colorado’s Republican Party was next on her list, with “a mass email in honor of pride month titled ‘God hates flags,’ which is a disgusting wordplay on a derogatory slur.” The letter referred to members of LGBTQ+ as “barbaric, creeps, degenerates, godless, groomers, predators, radicals, and reprobates,” further writing that “The month of June has arrived and once again, the godless groomers in our society want to attack what is decent, holy, and righteous so they can ultimately harm our children.”

NewsBusters found seemingly countless examples proving Colorado’s Republicans spoke the truth, and the letter’s characterizations were not as outrageous as MSNBC’s host suggested.

The proverbial cherry on top of Reid’s tirade was Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ decision to forbid cities in Florida from “displaying colorful lights on their bridges during pride month, limiting bridge coloration to red, white, and blue,” or as she summed it up, “Yes, Ron DeSantis has banned color!”

JOY REID: At this point, the national party has made it clear that the MAGA party is not a safe place for women, minorities, people of color, basically anybody that's not a conservative, white, Christian, straight male or really, really rich.

Under Trump, Americans have lost more rights than they have gained, because to the MAGA party, the woman's rightful place is in the home making her husband a sandwich. Immigrants should go back to where they came from. All college students should be white. And queer folks should hide in the closet, like in the good old days. These manufactured culture wars are nasty work. They’re undemocratic and extreme.

But MAGA state politicians have somehow figured out a way to out-do their national party colleagues. In Texas, for example, the state Republican Party just approved a platform that reads like a 19th century horror story. The platform calls for, quote, “Self-sufficient family based on traditional marriage between a natural man and a natural woman.” They deem that sex education should be forbidden. Basically The Handmaid's Tale

In Colorado, the state Republican Party sent a mass email in honor of pride month titled "God hates flags," which is a disgusting wordplay on a derogatory slur. The letter, originally posted by Kyle Clark, an NBC News 9 reporter in Colorado, referred to LGBTQ+ people as, quote, “barbaric, creeps, degenerates, godless, groomers, predators, radicals, and reprobates.” They write, “The month of June has arrived and once again, the godless groomers in our society want to attack what is decent, holy, and righteous so they can ultimately harm our children.”

In Florida, Ron DeSantis' administration has forbidden cities across the state from displaying colorful lights on their bridges during pride month, limiting bridge coloration to red, white, and blue. Yes, Ron DeSantis has banned color! State Republicans in Florida also forbidden trans people from changing their driver’s licenses to match their gender identity.
