Hollywood Actress Points Out the Positives of Motherhood

Now here’s something you certainly won’t hear or see plastered all over magazines or hot Hollywood gossip websites: A Hollywood actress who wants to have a big family and focus on that family.

It’s almost a groundbreaking concept in Hollywood where stories about sex, drugs and scandals seem to be as natural as the air we breathe. But having a family and wanting to raise that family? It’s practically unheard of!

Not so for one Hollywood starlet in millenial Blake Lively as while most of her generation still lives with their parents on remain on their health insurance until 26, Lively seems mature beyond her 28 years of age.

Already mother to an 18 month old little girl, Lively is already pregnant with her second baby.  She views motherhood as a “unique job” but at the same time, a universal one: “It’s the thing that binds us all—family,” she said. “We have very unique jobs for a living, but we all are a part of someone’s family. It’s a nice thing.”

Instead of focusing on the chaos parenthood can sometimes bring, Lively embraces it:

Having a baby is just living in the constant unexpected…You never know when you’re gonna get crapped on or when you’re gonna get a big smile or when that smile immediately turns into hysterics…You have a baby and you think, ‘I can’t imagine ever not having a baby,’ because they grow up so quickly. I’d be an 80-year-old woman with a baby if I could.

Personally, it’s so invigorating to see a young Hollywood actress talking about motherhood in a positive light and admitting they want a large family when so many focus on the negatives – whether it’s about abortion and how a baby is an “inconvenience,” how children impact a marriage, the sleepless nights and dirty diapers, serving as a taxi for after school activities and trying to balance it all.

Sure there are challenges with parenthood, but for once it’s nice to see a Hollywood actress who’s more committed to raising a family than profiting off some sordid scandal.
