Shortly after Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus called on MSNBC's president to personally apologize and "take corrective action" for an offensive statement posted to the liberal network's Twitter feed which claimed that conservative people hate interracial families, the TV executive appears to have done just that.
"The tweet last night was outrageous and unacceptable. We immediately acknowledged it was offensive and wrong, apologized and deleted it," MSNBC president Phil Griffin said in a press release that was read aloud on "The Cycle."
According to Mediaite, Fox News host Sean Hannity will interview Priebus tonight to get his on-camera reaction. The RNC chairman clearly has accepted the apology judging from a press release sent moments ago:
We appreciate Mr. Griffin’s admission that their comment was demeaning and disgusting, and the Chairman accepted his apology. We will aggressively monitor the network to see whether their pattern of unacceptable behavior actually changes.
We don’t expect their liberal bias to change, but we will call them out when political commentary devolves into personal and belittling attacks.

With the Republican reaction out of the way, let's look at the reaction of MSNBC's fan base over at Democratic Underground. As you might expect, many have been outraged at the apology and firing rather than at the race-baiting tweet.
"Bad, bad precedent," said a poster named "silverweb" argued that Griffin had now "given the GOP editorial approval rights over your content."
DU poster "Botany" took it much further in an extended and vulgar rant defending the "truth tweet:"
The right wing has been working to keep people of color from having the same voting rights that they enjoy for years and they are still doing that right now. Ever heard of Richard Nixon's "Southern Strategy?" Which has been the foundation of the republican party for years and it now has a bastard son called Fox News. Or how about Ronald Reagan starting his campaign in Neshoba County, MS which has a very nasty history as per treatment of people of color.
The problem with so many people on "our side" is they back the hell down when the right wing clutches it's pearls and hits the fainting couch about the nasty thing we liberal say. God damn it the man spoke the truth that some right wingers will be upset over a nice imagine of a biracial marriage.
