Color me confused.
The media are fixated today on something Mitt Romney did way back in high school, almost 50 years go, and is hyping it as evidence that he's a gay-bashing bully or something (even though the actual facts of what happened nearly 50 years ago are very much in dispute.)
But on the other side of the election campaign, there's a candidate who -- admittedly -- assaulted a girl on the playground in school, then used cocaine in college and hung out with fellow druggies who had a penchant for violence.
I'm sure the Washington Post is going to follow up its Romney article with a similarly-long 5,000 word piece interviewing Obama's college coke dealer and the coke heads and pot-smoking degenerates he hung out with in college, right? And they'll soon be interviewing friends of lil' Coretta, whom Obama admits in his biography that he rushed across the playground and shoved because she said something he didn't like:
"I ran up to Coretta and gave her a slight shove; she staggered back and looked up at me, but still said nothing. 'Leave me alone!' I shouted again. And suddenly Coretta was running, faster and faster, until she disappeared from sight. Appreciative laughs rose around me."
So, Obama -- whose governing style Human Events aptly characterizes is political bullying -- not only attacked a girl, he reveled in the "appreciative laughs."
Is he a psycho?
No. He was a child.
As he grew, presumably, he stopped beating up girls on the playground and moved on... to becoming a cocaine user
In his own biography -- so there are no doubts about the facts -- Obama admits to skipping class in college a lot so he could do drugs with rich white kids, fellow "brothers" he met at the gym, and with local "Hawaiian kids," whom he stereotyped as lazy and prone to violence:
"Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though," he says. "I had discovered that it didn't make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate's sparkling new van, or in the dorm room of some brother you'd met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school and now spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl. ... You might just be bored, or alone. Everybody was welcome into the club of disaffection."
To be fair, Obama claims he stopped using drugs around age 20.
Also, to be fair -- and we will, even though the Washington Post won't be -- Mitt Romney's high-school pranks were over by the time he turned 20, too. How either episode has any bearing on what either man would do if he were elected president this November is beyond me.
But count on America's liberal media to continue trying to claim it is--for Mitt Romney only.
