Poppy Harlow Jimmy Carter Rosalynn Carter CNN This Morning 2-24-23 Responding to the news that former President Jimmy Carter has at the age of 98 entered hospice care, CNN This Morning celebrated the long marriage of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.

The end of the segment concluded with this exchange:

POPPY HARLOW: I just love their love story. Almost 80 years.

KAITLAN COLLINS: Do you know he invited her to sit in on cabinet meetings at the White House?

HARLOW: I LOVE that!

COLLINS: It's amazing.

HARLOW: I love that.

COLLINS: Their influence on the presidency is amazing.

So co-host Poppy Harlow absolutely loved the fact that Jimmy invited Rosalynn to attend cabinet meetings. And co-host Kaitlan Collins extolled the "amazing" way that example influenced the presidency.

But when it was recently disclosed that Melania was once present in the Situation Room during a military operation, the liberal media, notably including Morning Joe, went nuts. Let's guess it's because Melania was a supermodel.

Mika Brzezinski: I don't even know what to say! This is ridiculous! Totally weird.

Joe Scarborough: And I could see how the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the Secretary of Defense would look around and say, "What is this? Is this a reality TV show? What’s going on here? Wife’s coming and talking about a dog?" Yeah, it’s very weird.

In that same segment, Jonathan Lemire pointed out that although it was controversial, Melania had been given a security clearance.

Granted, the Situation Room and a cabinet meeting are not the same, although it's certainly possible that at times classified information is discussed during cabinet meetings.

As for Collins' praise of the "amazing" influence on the presidency that Carter having invited Rosalynn into cabinet meetings made: apparently, that's absolutely wonderful—just so long as it doesn't extend to the Trumps!

CNN This Morning loving the fact that as president, Jimmy Carter invited his wife Rosalynn into cabinet meetings was sponsored in part by UnitedHealthCare, Verizon, and Clear Choice.

Here's the transcript.

POPPY HARLOW: He's been married for the better part of eight decades to Rosalynn. They met when they were babies in the tiny town of Plains, Georgia. Jimmy was three years old, Rosalynn was a newborn.

And she spent a lot of time at the Carters' house, as you can see here. Because she was friends with Carter's sister. Their first date was back in 1945, and Carter told his mom that Rosalynn would be the woman that he was going to marry all the way back then.

She didn't accept his proposal back then. She wanted him to graduate from the Naval Academy. But she says he was persistent. Here they are on their wedding day, this is 1946. Just look at those smiles. She was by his side throughout his political year. Here they are dancing at the inaugural ball in 1977.

Rosalind once said she couldn't imagine living her life without him.

REPORTER: How has your long and vibrant marriage enriched your life and work?

ROSALYNN CARTER: I don't know. I've been married all of my life, almost. And I don't know how it could have been enriched more if it had not been for Jimmy Carter.

HARLOW: Aww. As for the former president, he says marrying her was the best decision he ever made

JIMMY CARTER: Well, the best thing I ever did was marrying Rosalynn. That's the pinnacle of my life,  and we've had 69 years together; still together. And, so, that's the best thing that happened to me.

HARLOW: The Carters share four children together and combined 22 grand and great-grandchildren. I just love their love story. Almost 80 years.

DON LEMON: You've got love that. The perfect couple.

HARLOW: Almost 80 years.

KAITLAN COLLINS: You know he invited her to sit in on cabinet meetings?

HARLOW: I love that!

COLLINS: It's amazing.

HARLOW: I love that.

COLLINS: Their influence on the presidency is amazing.

HARLOW: Yeah. Thinking about all of them right now.
