Mika Brzezinski: President Biden Is 'Extremely Well-Liked' (Who Needs Polls?)

Mika Brzezinski MSNBC Morning Joe 2-10-23

Who you gonna believe: Dem cheerleader Mika Brzezinski, or all those lyin' polls?

On Friday's Morning Joe, Mika actually said—and yes, we checked the tape twice—that President Biden is "extremely well-liked." She capped her statement by doing her best Sally-Field-at-the-Oscars impersonation, exclaiming, "They kind of like Joe Biden! They kind of like him!"

Hasn't Mika been reading her personal paper of record, the New York Times? Check this headline and story from just last three days ago:

"Biden’s approval ratings last year were some of the worst for a second-year president."

And then there's 538, which shows Biden's approval ratings underwater by more than nine points.

Even among Biden's fellow Democrats, only about 1-in-3 want him to be their party's candidate in 2024!

If that's being "extremely well-liked," you wonder what an unliked president would look like!

Mika made her comments in the context of the panel's liberal consensus that the GOP-led House Oversight committee is making a political mistake by going after Hunter Biden issues and attacking Biden. Mika warned Republicans that their "obsession" with Hunter is going to "backfire."

Yes, whenever Republicans are in need of sound, well-intentioned, political advice, their go-to destination is a panel of partisan MSNBC liberals!

Note: in their comments that we noted yesterday, and now today, Morning Joe casts the work of the Oversight committee as an investigation into Hunter Biden. But as committee chairman James Comer regularly makes clear, the focus of his committee's investigation is not Hunter Biden, but Joe Biden, "the big guy," the one who, according to a Hunter associate, was tabbed to get 10% of at least one deal.

If the investigation demonstrates that Joe Biden was in fact profiting from his son's indisputable pattern of influence peddling. If Joe Biden was in effect on the payroll of foreign powers including China, the liberal media will no longer be able to shrug off the investigation with "who cares about a laptop?"  indifference. It would in fact be huge, earth-shaking news.Sally Field Oscars How "extremely liked" would Joe be then, Mika?

Mika Brzezinski claiming that President Biden is "extremely well-liked" was sponsored in part by Liberty Mutual, Sleep Number, Flonase, Celebrity Cruises, and Chewy

JONATHAN LEMIRE: It was extraordinarily predictable yesterday. An airing of grievances and conspiracy theories. And making a bet that the American people cares at all about Hunter Biden and his laptop and business dealings.

And look, if there was wrong some wrongdoing, it'll be investigated by the proper authorities. And that remains to be seen, whether or not that will happen.

But his is something that they have talked themselves into a corner. That, that these conspiracy theories, what used to be in the fringes of the internet, became more mainstream thanks to Republican talking points. They live on in primetime Fox News shows. And, for an element of the Republican base, they want to see this happen. and Republicans have told me they feel like they'd be punished by voters if they didn't see through here.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Right.

LEMIRE: But there are a lot of Republicans, Elise Jordan, there are a lot of Republicansvwho are nervous about this, who see President Biden talking about things like Social Security and Medicare, talking about big jobs numbers. And at least an element, a loud element of their party, is obsessed about stuff that only plays to the smallest part of their base.

ELISE JORDAN: Well, and Jonathan, they come into a little bit of power, a teensy bit of power, because the margin is so narrow, but is the House just going to look like all they're doing is a consistent grievance train and not any actual legislating, not bringing anything to the floor and voting?

And you've got, on the Senate side, you've Rick Scott going completely off message on Social Security. Ron Johnson, too. Which, you know, even Mitch McConnell is taking, you know, "Oh, this is not where we are." But giving Biden and Democrats more to punch back at them with.

MIKA: Yeah. I mean, I'm going to add to that description of yours, Elise, grievance train. I mean, they're adding to their grievance train, the obsession with Hunter, for whatever they might find, is -- I think that's going to backfire as well.

This is President Biden, who is extremely well-liked. Who many believe has accomplished something in his first two years in office. And they're going after him with such vigor. I'm not sure that's a good look for them. While their former president, they literally closed their eyes, put blinders on to an insurrection.

I just don't know how that will translate, and I think we learned in the midterms that the American people are clued into democracy matters. They don't like insurrections, where people get tortured and killed. And, they kind of like Joe Biden! They kind of like him!
