It's one of the oldest moves in the liberal media's playbook: trying to pass off liberal Democrat candidates as "moderates." CNN ran the con this morning . . . but an interesting Democrat actually reminded viewers of the truth: that the so-called "moderates" are actually to the left of where Barack Obama was when he first ran for president.
CNN's New Day devoted a segment to the question of which Democrat Iowa caucus-goers might choose if they're looking for a "moderate." The supposed "moderates" mentioned by host Alisyn Camerota and reporter Jeff Zeleny were Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, and Amy Klobuchar.
But toward the end of the segment, Bakari Sellers, a CNN analyst and South Carolina Democrat who had endorsed Kamala Harris before she dropped out, gave away the game, saying:
"I do want to remind voters and watchers that even Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg today, they are more progressive, and they're further to the left than even Barack Obama was in 2007 and 2008."
And let's remember that when he first ran for president, Obama had the most liberal voting record in the Senate!
Since "Mayor Pete" has lately been leading in Iowa, and is being touted across the liberal media as a moderate, let's focus on his record, with particular attention to his views on immigration. As this and this article make clear, Buttigieg is nothing less than an open-borders radical.
So spare us the "moderate" mislabeling, CNN!
Whomever the Democrats ultimately choose, their candidate will be the most left-wing major party candidate in American history. President Trump will have a target-rich environment on open borders, abortion on demand, the economy-wrecking Green New Deal and a host of other issues the Dem will be on record as supporting.
Speaking of Sellers, in a Democrat party that has become increasingly hostile to Israel and dabbles in anti-Semitism, Sellers is an interesting African-American Democrat who has been described as a Zionist. From Wikipedia:
"Sellers first attended the annual AIPAC conference while serving as student body president at Morehouse College. He has since become a prominent African-American Zionist. In 2016, he authored a letter signed by 60 fellow African-American politicians urging the Democratic Platform Committee to keep the same language, refusing to include the statement that Israel is engaging in an 'occupation" of Palestine that appeared in previous Democratic platforms.'"
Here's the transcript.

. . .
JEFF ZELENY: For many voters looking for a moderate candidate, they're legitimately torn between Buttigieg's excitement and Biden's experience.
. . .
CAMEROTA: Another moderate candidate hoping to break out from the pack, Senator Amy Klobuchar. Is Iowa the make-or-break moment for her campaign?
. . .
BAKARI SELLERS: I do want to remind voters and watchers that even Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg today, they are more progressive, and they're further to the left than even Barack Obama was in 2007 and 2008.
