Donny Deutsch: Glenn Beck A 'Despicable Putz'

April 7th, 2011 9:07 AM

On Morning Joe today, ad man Donny Deutsch called Glenn Beck a "despicable putz."  For good measure, Deutsch also described Beck as "a disgusting human being."

Deutsch was reacting to a clip of Beck from yesterday confirming that he was indeed leaving his Fox News show.

Deutsch was clearly proud of his epithet, regretting that Pat Buchanan didn't respond to it in his subsequent comments.

Although "putz" might have a light-hearted lilt to some, its literal Yiddish meaning is quite strong, something that Queens-born Deutsch surely knows.

WILLIE GEIST: He made it official, yesterday, on his show.

GLENN BECK: I want to verify something that is true. I am going to leave this show later this year.  Paul Revere did not get up on his horse and say, I'm going to do this for the rest of my life.  He didn't do it. He got off the horse at some point and fought in the Revolution, and then went back to silver-smithing. I have other things to do, and not because it's good or bad for business. But I think you, out of all the people, will truly get this: our only business is the business of freedom and our country at this time.

DONNY DEUTSCH: What a despicable putz.

WILLIE GEIST: Wow.  Why do you say that? Because he's going back to silver-smithing?

DEUTSCH: What a disgusting human being.

GEIST: For a dissenting opinion, let's go to Pat Buchanan.  Pat, what do you think about the departure of Glenn Beck?

Palpably proud of his vulgarity, Donny was definitely disappointed when Pat Buchanan didn't deign to dignify it with a response.

PAT BUCHANAN: One if by land and two if by sea!

DEUTSCH: You let "despicable putz" go by, you didn't--that's a "d.p.", that's a new one.
