Decimate: 1. to destroy a great number or proportion of: the population was decimated by a plague. 2. to select by lot and kill every tenth person of.
Is that the definition of the post-partisan politics Barack Obama claims to be preaching? You know, the kind where there's no blue-state America or red-state America: just the United States of America? Maybe Chevy Chase didn't get the email. Appearing on Morning Joe today, Chase expressed his disappointment that Tina Fey didn't go after Sarah Palin harder in her SNL impersonation. Chase wanted to see Fey "decimate" the Republican VP candidate.
Chase was appearing to tout a charity auction he and wife Jayni are conducting to fund environmental education in the schools. See Bonus Coverage for a disturbing factoid Jayni let slip. Chase's call for blood came in response to Willie Geist's very first question.

WILLIE GEIST: You were there, Saturday night, your old stomping ground. What did you make of Tina Fey?
CHEVY CHASE: Well, I thought, I mean, it's extraordinary how well she played her and how much she looked like her. I'd just like her to be—personally I felt we didn't need the Hillary stuff. I'd like her to go even harder. I want her to decimate this woman. This is a, this woman is, I mean I can't believe isn't more about her. All the media have and the press have been going "oh, she's a wonderful, oh God, her speech was great." Just unbelievable to me that this woman is running for vice-president.
The media have been saying "she's wonderful" and acclaiming her speech? Has Chevy been on extended vacation?
Chase's nastiness comes as no surprise. This is the man who at a People for the American Way benefit at the Kennedy Center publicly called President George W. Bush a "dumb f---." But I know what you're wondering: Chevy's on record, but what is Jayni Chase's opinion? Let the word go out: Jayni Chase is no Palin fan.
JAYNI CHASE: Well, as a woman, I've been politically active all my life, and she's not speaking for me.
In the course of describing her environmentalist work and the charity auction she and her husband are conducting, Jayni Chase let this nugget slip.
JAYNI CHASE: I started the Center, but right at the moment, what I'm doing is taking my green-schooling work to Earth Day Network. And Earth-Day Network is virtually in every classroom across the country. And that's what I'm--I just, getting into schools and not just putting solar panels on and then going home but trying to do five model schools, soup to nuts, and the money we're raising, that's what it's going to go to.
So, people with the politics of Chevy and Jayni Chase have succeeded in getting into "virtually every classroom across the country." More evidence that environmentalism is thin cover for the left-wing agenda at large.
