Stephanie Ruhle Asks: Doesn’t Trump Want A ‘Clean Win’ This Time?

While hyping reports that President Trump fired his acting Director of National Intelligence over concerns that the intelligence community was too focused on allegations of Russian interference in the upcoming election, on her Friday morning show, MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle claimed that Trump should want to “have a clean win” in 2020 after the “asterisk” in the 2016 election.

“The President hates the fact his 2016 win will forever have an asterisk next to it because of Russian interference,” Ruhle sneered during a lengthy panel discussion early in the 9:00 a.m. ET hour. She then tried to goad Trump into taking action on the topic: “So why wouldn’t he now do everything possible to prevent that from happening in 2020 so he can have a clean win?”

 

 

Picking up on the implication that the President did not have a “clean win” in 2016, MSNBC Republican and former press secretary to House Speaker John Boehner Michael Steel agreed: “I think you’re exactly right, I think he should. I think in a rational universe he would.”

He then warned:

I think we’re headed to a very close presidential election. It is entirely possible that we’ll see a repeat of 2016, in the sense that the President will lose the popular vote and win in electoral college. And any of the things that we’re talking about, chaos at the polls, people being turned away, ballots disappearing, all of that will feed the narrative that he is not a legitimate president all over again.

And that goes to the heart of the matter, the liberal media have never accepted Trump as the legitimately elected president.
