ABC's Karl Cries About Hunter Investigation, Claims GOP Likes Chaos

November 20th, 2022 11:15 AM

After spending the past year cheering on Congressional Democrats in their seemingly never ending quest to investigate former President Donald Trump and his actions on and leading up to the January 6 riots, including the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate and presumably prosecute Trump, suddenly investigations and oversight are bad since it’s the GOP’s turn to conduct them.

The leftist media’s blatant and shameless hypocrisy was on full display during Sunday’s This Week on ABC when fill-in host Jon Karl interviewed former Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan about his take on politics and his new book which outlines solutions to America’s fiscal problems.

Karl fretted to Ryan that his book “which looks at the financial issues facing the country,” was “not part of this campaign.” Yet if it were part of the 2022 midterms, Karl would’ve tried his hardest behind the ABC News anchor desk to demonize his policy solutions just like the media did in 2012 when Ryan was the GOP Vice Presidential nominee.

Instead, Karl bemoaned how Republicans are talking about oversight investigations into Hunter Biden’s corruption and other reportedly illegal activities by the Biden crime family.

“We have seen them come out talk about Hunter Biden, there are a number of impeachment resolutions that were already filed even before the election, not just Biden, but members of his cabinet,” Karl whined to Ryan.

Karl then asked if it would “be a mistake for Republicans instead of getting to the ideas you are talking about, get into heavy, heavy investigation, investigation?”

Ryan responded that “no, they need to do oversight.” And that “typically what happens when you have one party rule throughout Washington between the White House and Congress is there isn't enough sufficient oversight and accountability.”

Karl then moaned about Republicans “dragging in Hunter Biden” and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“I think there is some stuff there that at DOJ and Hunter that they probably should have some accountability and some investigations,” Ryan responded. “But that's not a substitute for an agenda.”

Later on in the show, during the “PowerHouse Roundtable” segment, during a discussion on whether Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy will get the 218 votes he needs to be elected Speaker, White House correspondent Mary Bruce doubled down on the media narrative that Republicans won’t achieve any legislative accomplishments and will simply hold investigatory hearings.

“The idea that they’re going to get anything done, I think is beyond optimistic. We know where McCarthy is heading and this is going to be an investigation palooza,” Bruce claimed.

Karl then jumped in to smear the GOP once more before the show ended: “those that are saying hell no, they won't vote for Kevin McCarthy, they like chaos. I mean, that's not an argument against it. I mean, they want chaos.”

JON KARL: You do have this book out which looks at the financial issues facing the country which are immense, obviously. They were not part of this campaign. And when I see what Republicans have done so far as they prepare to take the majority is talk about investigations. We have seen them come out talk about Hunter Biden, there are a number of impeachment resolutions that were already filed even before the election, not just Biden, but members of his cabinet. Would it be a mistake for Republicans instead of getting to the ideas you are talking about, get into heavy, heavy investigation, investigation?

PAUL RYAN: No, they need to do oversight. Typically what happens when you have one party rule throughout Washington between the White House and Congress is there isn't enough sufficient oversight and accountability.

KARL: But oversight, dragging in Hunter Biden --

KARL: Fauci --

RYAN: I think there is some stuff there that at DOJ and Hunter that they probably should have some accountability and some investigations. But that's not a substitute for an agenda. The purpose of putting out an idea -- I am glad you brought the book out.

MARY BRUCE: But look, the idea that they’re going to get anything done, I think is beyond optimistic. We know where McCarthy is heading and this is going to be an investigation palooza.

KARL: That's the thing, if he doesn't get 218 votes, it's chaos. But those that are saying hell no, they won't vote for Kevin McCarthy, they like chaos. I mean, that's not an argument against it. I mean, they want chaos.
