Joy Reid: GOP to 'Take Ownership' of Half The Women in US After Roe

June 27th, 2022 10:39 PM

On Monday's The ReidOut on MSNBC, host Joy Reid opened her show with another temper tantrum over the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and letting each state and its voters decide abortion policy instead of nine unelected lawyers in black robes.

After debating with her panel over how much the overturning of Roe will hurt Republicans in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections, with the consensus among them that it will hurt them, and that voting alone isn't the answer, Reid went into an unhinged and dangerous tirade.

Reid claimed, "the difference between voters on the right and voters on the left" is that "voters on the right never give up. They don't get tired" she bemoaned. "Decade after decade they lost and lost and lost until they won."

"In the process" Reid explained the GOP "took over state houses, State Senates. And Governorships so they are positioned to now take ownership of about half the women in this country. 48 percent of the women now live in red states." Reid never explained how limiting access to abortion causes state governments to "take ownership of" women. Unfortunately, Reid is never forced to explain herself because she rarely has people on who will challenge her.

"So you're talking about the fact that those state legislatures, at least according to the Supreme Court, the women in those states are their property and they can do whatever they want," Reid outrageously claimed without evidence.

She added that "now it's about trying to convince voters you're going to need to switch those people out and vote in prosecutors who won't prosecute you and State Reps and Senators who won't destroy you and Governors who won't veto your rights."

This kind of dangerous rhetoric is what almost got House Republican Whip Steve Scalise killed when a Rachel Maddow fan and Bernie Sanders supporter shot at Republican members of Congress during their baseball practice for the Congressional baseball game in 2017.

When you accuse your political opponents of wanting to enslave women, you are essentially encouraging violence against them whether you mean to or not.

This dangerous rhetoric by Joy Reid was made possible thanks to the endorsement from Discover and AT&T. Their information is linked so you can let them know about the kind of commentary they support.

JOY REID: That is the difference between voters on the right and voters on the left. Voters on the right never give up. They don't get tired. Decade after decade they lost and lost and lost until they won. And in the process, Anthea, took over state houses, State Senates. And Governorships so they are positioned to now take ownership of about half the women in this country. 48 percent of the women now live in red states.

So you're talking about the fact that those state legislatures, at least according to the Supreme Court, the women in those states are their property and they can do whatever they want. And so now it's about trying to convince voters you're going to need to switch those people out and vote in prosecutors who won't prosecute you and State Reps and Senators who won't destroy you and Governors who won't veto your rights.
