Deranged MSNBC LIB: We've Got to Scare the Hell Out of Voters to Save Democracy

June 15th, 2022 11:23 PM

On Wednesday’s Deadline: White House on MSNBC, host Nicolle Wallace and her panel of leftists and conspiracy theorists spent an entire segment panicking that democracy in America is over if Republicans win control of Congress in the 2022 midterm elections.

After fretting over the results of last night’s gubernatorial and congressional primaries in which some Trump backed candidates won, MSNBC political analyst Cornel Belcher freaked out that democracy is done for if Republicans win.

“2022 is going to be the most consequential election of our time” Belcher said. Falsely explaining that “you've got hundreds of these people who are literally running on the ideal that I'm going to overturn an election if it doesn't go our way.”

Channeling Benjamin Franklin, Belcher warned “we have a republic if we can keep it” and in the 2022 midterms “we're gonna answer Ben Franklin's refrain whether or not we can keep this republic and if Republicans do win this election to Dowd's point in 2024, we're gonna lose democracy.”

Later on in the segment, he wailed over the lack of voter participation among key Democrat constituencies: “we got to give them a reason to feel they have skin in the game, that this is important to them that losing democracy is important to them.”

His solution to drive Democrat voters to the polls it to lie to them and tell them if they don’t vote, democracy is finished and they will lose their rights:

You think you're losing your rights now, what do you think is going to happen if we don't have democracy? You know what African Americans, particularly African American men who are showing the lowest motivation to turn out in this midterm, you think things are tough for you right now. Where do you think you're going to stand in a country in America where there's no democracy, where they have absolutely no interest or—at all in respecting your rights.

Continuing on his demagogic rant, Belcher demanded that “we've got to let these people understand that they've got skin in this game, and we've got to scare the hell out of them because quite frankly, Nicolle, they should be afraid that we're going to lose our democracy.”

Belcher knows his party has nothing to run on but fear and division. His rant is an admission of that fact.

CORNELL BELCHER: Nicolle, 2022 is going to be the most consequential election of our time. Because as the reporting has shown, you've got hundreds of these people who are literally running on the ideal that I'm going to overturn an election if it doesn't go our way.

NICOLLE WALLACE: Yeah.

BELCHER: Nicolle, we have a republic if we can keep it.  I think in 2022, we're gonna find out whether or not Ben Franklin's refrain, we're gonna answer Ben Franklin's refrain whether or not we can keep this republic and if Republicans do win this election to Dowd's point in 2024, we're gonna lose democracy.

(...)

BELCHER: Can I get in real quick because I want to double down on this campaign, this ideal, and in campaigns we have these ideals of, okay, to that third that Dowd was talking about, they got to understand they have skin in the game, and right now they don't really believe they have skin in the game is the point that Dowd's making. Campaigns, we got to give them a reason to feel they have skin in the game, that this is important to them that losing democracy is important to them and whether it be not -- whether or not it be telling women that, you know what, women?

You think you're losing your rights now, what do you think is going to happen if we don't have democracy? You know what African Americans, particularly African American men who are showing the lowest motivation to turn out in this midterm, you think things are tough for you right now. Where do you think you're going to stand in a country in America where there's no democracy, where they have absolutely no interest or—at all in respecting your rights. We've got to let these people understand that they've got skin in this game, and we've got to scare the hell out of them because quite frankly, Nicolle, they should be afraid that we're going to lose our democracy.
