ABC's Raddatz: Are Democrats 'Getting Their Groove Back'?

February 6th, 2022 11:15 AM

On Sunday’s edition of ABC’s This Week, fill-in host Martha Raddatz and political director Rick Klein were sure to bring out their pom-poms for Joe Biden and the Democrat Party.

During their so-called “Powerhouse Roundtable” segment, the panel was debating who Biden might nominate to fill the seat of retiring Justice Stephen Breyer and how smoothly the confirmation process will go. It was at this point when Raddatz turned to Klein and asked him if he thought “Democrats, Biden, are they kinda getting their groove back?”

Like a good cheerleader for the leftist agenda, Klein predictably said “it certainly feels like it,” before running down a list of reasons why he thinks things are going well for Biden and the Democrat Party.

"Look, you can see a scenario where Democrats look at the jobs numbers, they look at omicron, they see a President acting strong in foreign policy and they see an opportunity with the Supreme Court pick not just to get it confirmed but maybe to get bipartisanship.” Klein proclaimed in excitement.

Klein continued hoping that Biden can finally make good on his promise to change the culture in Washington by getting a bipartisan vote on his Supreme Court nominee:

As we talk about Judge Childs, you’ve got his closest ally, plus key Republicans saying pick this woman, we like her. And that’s a chance for Biden to make good on the overall pledge, the promise that he’s brought about changing the culture of Washington. Yes he can get something done with a bare majority of fifty votes but in today's Washington, it would speak volumes to get 55 or 60 votes for someone. So there's an opportunity here.

Of course, he had to get in an attack on Republicans while he was at it. “They have a time to change that narrative to change the story that’s being told and contrasting that with Republican chaos, this was a good couple of days,” He said.

Simply sucking up to Democrats is never enough for them. Biden and the Democrats have their groove back and Republicans are in chaos. This is the kind of analysis you get from ABC News. No wonder people don’t trust the media anymore.

MARTHA RADDATZ: Rick, I want to go back to you, because we've been watching what you've been writing this week and what you’ve been talking about. Democrats, Biden, are they kinda getting their groove back?

RICK KLEIN: It certainly feels like it. Look, you can see a scenario where Democrats look at the jobs numbers, they look at omicron, they see a President acting strong in foreign policy and they see an opportunity with the Supreme Court pick not just to get it confirmed but maybe to get bipartisanship. There’s an actually really interesting question that the President will have to confront as we talk about Judge Childs, you’ve got his closest ally, plus key Republicans saying pick this woman, we like her. And I think Biden has time and the Democrats have time despite all the negative signals right now that are around Democrats for the midterms. They have a time to change that narrative to change the story that’s being told and contrasting that with Republican chaos, this was a good couple of days.
